"After three months of vacant office, an Attorney General delegate has been appointed for the state of Baja California. Rafael González Cervantes, who
served as Deputy Attorney General in Rosarito Beach for five years, was appointed to the top position at the La Procuraduría General de la República
(PGR or Attorney General's Office) in Baja California.
The announcement was made discretely Tuesday morning, as no media was invited to the ceremony.
The former official who held the office resigned in April regarding allegations of ties to organized crime.
The PGR is involved in investigating and prosecuting federal crimes. The PGR has also taken on a stronger role in fighting organized crime and
kidnapping."
