bajaguy - 7-19-2012 at 01:36 PM

I believe that if you are not a member, they will sell you one.

I thought AAA stopped printing Baja maps.

I think they stopped "creating maps"

I believe I got 1 maybe a yr. ago, but I don't know when
it was printed, so you may be right, I did notice on the San Felipe campo
area to the no. of SF, where they used to list all the
campos was basically bare, except El Dorado,
but to the so. all
way to Puerticitos they list every obscure campo, I yearn for the old days when AAA had the free fmm's

At your local AAA office Terry?

I last asked at my local AAA office about a year ago and he said they no longer printed or provided the Baja map.

Thanks for the offer but no. I use the Almanac actually.

I have given away several of my old AAA maps to friends going down because the San Diego AAA office could not provide them.

Dunno, just typed in Baja Map in the search block

desertcpl - 7-19-2012 at 03:44 PM

yes I know, I was there and it only shows the Main Land not Baja

BAJA.DESERT.RAT - 7-19-2012 at 04:37 PM

i pick one up every year at the AAA office in glendale calif.

i believe they give you the first one if you're a member and will charge you for any others that are duplicates.

my last one was last year so if they stopped printing them, that would be just recently.

BIEN SALUD, DA RAT

thebajarunner - 7-19-2012 at 04:58 PM

They date all of their maps,
The one I just grabbed out of the map drawer says 9/07 but I have a newer one somewhere.
Check the date on the bar code, or on the legend at the bottom.

Ateo - 7-19-2012 at 05:30 PM

Just buy the Baja Almanac. It rules over the AAA map.

Udo - 7-19-2012 at 05:36 PM

The current AAA Baja map is somewhat outdated.

Many roads that they show as gravel or dirt...are now paved. Baja Almanac shows the same thing, but you just can't beat the Baja Almanac.

BTW every time I go to AAA to get maps, I get a couple of extra Baja maps to pass out to friends.

Yep. I always ask them for this map, that map, and even another map. Take advantage of that membership. I say just spend the $15.95 and get the Baja Almanac. It shows you all the secret surf spots. =)

Is it more accurate these days?

The Almanac always looked real professional
and it was very imprecise in many areas.

Has it been improved and corrected
or is it still just a pretty face????

Udo - 7-19-2012 at 05:57 PM

That alone is worth ANY amount of money for the map, huh, Woody?

i also have the Baja almanc,, I like both of them

but as a glove box map and things that are not on the almanc, I still like the AAA map

I will take some body up on sending me one, I will pay of course.

I just looke at mine and I was mistaken about being 30 years old , its just looked like it, it was printed in 1997

mulegejim - 7-19-2012 at 07:31 PM

Was at the AAA office in San Clemente about six months ago and was told they no longer had Baja maps - just Mexico maps. Went in last week and lo and behold they had the Baja maps we all love and cherish. So check with your local AAA office. Jim

Barry A. - 7-19-2012 at 07:44 PM

My understanding on "maps" is that AAA no longer actually produces any maps--------but they still have them as the map service is now contracted out------to who, I am not sure.

I, as a Geographer, have always found the Baja Almanac to be quite accurate, but no map service is perfect, that is for sure.

They have a 2010 edition, with just some updates. The map was originally produced by the Auto Club of Southern California, an AAA sub-chapter.
