I will be going down to Gonzaga bay mid oct. i will be bringing a friend that would like to try some fishing. Both of us are not fishermen by any
means. We have no boat and all fishing will be done from shore. Other than that he might try some spear fishing in punta final.
Is it even worth bringing his gear down and try fishing from shore?
What bait to use?
Best times of day?
Best tackle?
What type of fish might he catch from shore? Spear fishing at punta final?

You don't say when you are going, but you need to watch the tide calendar for close to a slack tide.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will stick to drinking as my main Gonzaga activity My friend will be on his own if he wants to haul all his gear down. But it will give me something to look at while I'm sitting in the

No license needed if fishing from shore. You do need a license if spear fishing or in a boat.
I will be there a the same time. Look for a white Tundra with roof racks. Camping at Ranch Grande or maybe Baluga. I take rods but hardly ever get

I haven't fished at Gonzaga for a few years but someone on Nomads wrote about using artificial crabs and having good luck with them down there. I
ordered some and have used them on the pacific side with good luck. They are made by Berkley and called Gulp! as least that's what the label says.
They are 1 inch Peeler Crabs for saltwater. I've seen them in Sporting good stores here in Bakersfield. They come in different varieties etc.

I've caught halibut and triggers fishing along the beach in front of Alfonsina's.
