Another Nomad passing: Bajajazz

BajaNomad - 7-22-2012 at 12:05 AM

An email was sent earlier to me today by someone indicating they are a friend of the family... which says:

----

Subj: Ray Simpson ...Bajajazz

Message: I am not a member of your group but they may be interested in knowing that a dear friend of mine... has lost her husband, Ray Simpson. Ray died yesterday afternoon in La Paz from complications with an intestinal infection.

DEP..RAY.......I'm so sorry to hear this.
Anyone who puts this,"jazz freak, poet manque, ex-common drunk, no one you want to know, " as his bio-line, will be especially missed by me.

I have this strong feeling that Ray and I were waiting at the same bus stop for a while, only our transfers were to different places.

[this is no time for a re entry on my part, but under some duress,
I'll be catching up soon enough]

My condolences. As much as I love following the nomad, it saddens me each time I hear about a nomad lost. The comments posted following these loses however remind me how much caring goes on amongst the people who share their love of Baja.

The Nomad group is getting older judging by the pictures posted in AmoPescar's post.

But not me.

Didn't know Ray, but RIP.

I am so sad to hear this. Ray and I had many good exchanges here and also by email. He and I crossed paths throughout our lives and yet, never had met.

As his Nomad name suggests, he was a jazz lover and he knew his stuff. Unaware of one another at the time, we both were in attendance at some of the same notable performances in our California youth. He also knew lots of Bay Area lore and it's characters.

(Hello Dennis! Glad to see you back.)
