Pretty impressive, would have thought it was a dolphin without the tag line!

i caught one of these bad boys, many years ago, about 1975
in Mazatlan,, it did jump several times, but not as many times as this Utube did
but the one I caught did a tail walk which was really neat

obUsed to fish the sharksa great deal when it wasn't as popular as it is now,the Mako is one of the the fastest out there and can out jump most
anything especially in terms of height.
They have always been off the southern Calif. coast people just didn't fish them until the last 20 years, the vid took place just off San
Diego,I and my buds fished them on my 16' Ryan which makes it really exciting
when in close they have a habit of jumping when pressured, they are very scary guys,we always took a small one home when available, didn't mess with
large models, when one of those things smiles at you the hair will rise on the back of your head.

hey Baitcast
you mentioned that you had a 16' Ryan
what year was this,,
growing up in Long Beach, in the late 50s my dad had a 22 or 23 Rayn, it was built in LA some place, had a small cabin, nice fishing platform, we had
so much fun on this, fishing locally and spending time in Catalina
could yours have been from the same company
I have tried Googling it but I come up blank

Wooden boats and iron menlate 60,s I lived in Long Bch during the 60's
fiberglass over wood, note the motor 50/hp weighed a ton.
Not much freeboard so it was eye-ball to eye-ball with a grinner but would not have any other way, still young and dumb the pic is my first Mako, went everywhere in that boat.
Looks like it was 63,boat was the first of seven boats I have owned, guy has to have a boat to be complete!
If you look closely you will see a section of its head is gone while along side a much larger one came up for a snack

small world,, we was on my Dads boat alot, he bought it used I thinking it was 1957, really nice lines,
we needed an engine, and if I remember dad bought the first Mercury 75 that just came out that year,
the gas tank was a built in the transom
had a bait tank in the center of the deck, maybe about 2 scoops, fished every where locally off of Long Beach and Catalina
