Visa

pascuale - 7-30-2012 at 09:29 AM

ok heres the deal, the mexican Govt has banned fishing from US boats coming from US waters into mexico including the Coronado Islands and waters up to 24 miles from shore without a visa. passengers must have visas.

My Question:

Can I just walk across San Ysidro or Otay, get an FMM visa, walk back, get on my boat and fish Mexico for 180 days?

Can I use the Visa to visit mexico for 180 days or do I have to get a new one every time I leave Mexico and return? Where exactly do I go to get one? What is the process? When I recently went to PV, I flew out of TJ, waited in line to get the visa, and they told me i needed to pay for it at a bank in PV before I returned. I went to 2 banks in PV and told them i needed to pay for my visa, they had no idea what i was talking about.

how can I walk across and get one, pay for it and fish the next day? Thanks Guys and Gals:tumble:

It is quite easy to walk accross and get an fmm. I think I remember from earlier threads that the fmm at the border is different than the fishing fmm. Something to check out. Maybe a call to the mex fish and game in downtown San Diego might get you the correct info.

There was some talk on tha San Diego fishing radio
show this weekend, this is what I have heard, as we
know, as of Jan
1 of this yr., a Marine fmm was required of those fishing
the area that you spoke of, the Coronados, both
Sportfishing boats and private. This fmm was only good
typically 1-4 days, that was my idea to go to San Ysidro
get the 180 days fmm, the Marine fmm was something
like $40 for 3 days. Info said the 180 land fmm could not
be used in place of the Marine fmm.
It has turned into kinda of a
cluster. As of the middle of last week there was some
clarification supposed to be coming from Mex Immigration, Clarification/Mex Imm, there's an oxymarooon, I understand the SD Sportfishing
boats were not fishing the Coronados the last few days
due to this confusion, many private boaters were
fishing the C Isles this weekend without the fmm
