Hi my name is Ron and im new here to the site. I was wondering if anyone could help me with some questions. Me and a couple of buddies leased a spot
down in Baja and would like ti build a little 12' x 20' living quarters, but have been hearing that we would not be able to take ay lumber or building
materials from the states down to Baja without paying import taxes? is this true and are there any forms that need to be filled out for this kind of
process? any help would be great! thanks

Hi Ron, Welcome to the board and our community.
If you are asking whether you can put a load of lumber on like a trailer or in the back of your truck and drive it down, well, just like anything
being brought into Mexico, you have to pay importation taxes. I am not 100% sure about lumber, but I know that with other stuff, you only need a list
in Spanish of what you have and the value and when you cross you go to the declare lane and they will add the tax to it there. It is a little more
involved than that, but it's basically the process.
You could also use an import/export company to haul it for you.
Good luck, I am sure other nomads will jump in and give you advice as well.
Congrats on your property.

Welcome Ron,
Wood is a issue crossing, search the archives there is plenty of info there. How far south is the property? Most of the towns have a way to fill your
needs. You need to consider being a good neighbor also. By you putting back into the community you'll make friends and get the "inside line on how
things work". You can haul some stuff with you and purchase a lot down there. You'll will have to bargain on some of time prices, hey, it's Mexico.
