We were out there a few months ago.
It should be noted that the road up from LABay is much better shape than the one in from the main highway, but both easily passable with some caution.
Also, of great interest when you are there, look up on the mountain behind the church and you can see where they quarried the granite for the stones

Yes, we have been there several times and the family never fails to be gracious.
Interesting side note. The family is Jehova's Witness, and they do not enter into the church.
There was a nice lady there who was representing the local diocese and she gave us a tour,

Actually, the story I was told about 10 years ago was the new priest from Guerrero Negro decided to lock-out Jose and his kids from entering the
church because Jose wasn't Catholic. A representative for the church was hired to show it to visitors. Teodoro was his name I recall, and in 2009 a
different person (a lady) was there instead.
Really sad, because the Gerardo Family are the only residents there and know the place the best. Like, don't we all have the same God, named Jehovah
or not? Since then, Jose or his sons can continue to guide you to any of the sites outside the mission church. There is camping there under the
palapas he has built. Baja Angel has only been there one time, and it is a place she wants to go back to and spend more time at.thebajarunner - 8-14-2012 at 07:40 AM
A few years ago the young man, cannot remember his name but he guided us this year too, told our guys the "Witness" story. Two of our guys are 100%
bilingual, one is an ex-priest who served in South America, so I think they got his version correctly.
He unlocked the church and we took a brief tour.
This year the lady took us on an extensive tour, including a locked back room with old clothing and costumes, up on the roof, etc.
