Reducing Mosquito Breeding

It's tough to do if there's a large body of water nearby, but the critters seem to have a defined territory. The escuela of hard knocks taught me to go around after a rain, and find soft drink bottles, old tires, and anything else that can collect and keep water for several days and then empty them. Unused sink, shower, and drain taps are wonderful breeding grounds inside a home as are unused but filled toilet tanks. A dash of chlorine bleach takes care of the little buggers.

It seems like it would be a big job to empty every old tire Baja after a rain.

There has been some encouraging research on using a boric acid and sugar solution spray on vegetation to control mosquitos. These chemicals are cheap, available everywhere, and harmless to people and pets.
