What about the corn?
DavidE - 8-19-2012 at 07:12 PM
Corn? Oh yeah, it's being put to real good use. No elóte on the face of México can touch these beauties for flavor, sweetness, and tenderness. Now
that the cantaloupe have taken off, no more thoughts of 40 peso cantaloupe. As rich as that bed is, and the number of plants, it should yield 50 - 70
fruit in this kind of weather and sunlight. The biggest that grew on the other side was the size of a bowling ball. Cantaloupe must vine ripen,
period, like pineapple or it just does not taste good. When a person can smell it the webbing has turned golden. Time for agua fresca de melón then!

David ! those are some beautiful looking plants !! My mouth starts to water when I think of delicious corn. About once a year we go to the store and
think that if we buy Mexicorn corn, that looks so pretty, it will be close to the US sweet corn and we are bitterly disappointed.
you did great !
and cantaloupe too .... incredible !

Sweet corn on the cob is a disgrace, for me who likes butter Salt, pepper on the corn.

All grown 150 meters, 500' from the Pacific ocean. I'm trying to encourage other folks to do the same. Just think Blanca, in the winter, tons of
lettuce, like red and green and radicchio, and italian salad greens! Could start a Saturday or Sunday trade fair, bartering or selling stuff the local
stores don't have (so it isn't like taking something away from their sales or income). Which Mexican family affords three dollars per cantaloupe? The
local houses are built all wrong. Sink and shower water should be dumped into the garden.

so agree about the sink and shower water - ours goes straight to the garden - I don't have veggies but I got a LOT of plants ....
I want the corn David - I so love corn. I will have to make some room for some plants.
