No worries, these two positions will be filled immediately. Dozens have already applied, I'm sure. It is the demand NOB that should be eliminated. Drug addicts should be taken out of circulation and put behind the walls with barbed wire, making license plates along with "normal" criminals. Like they were, quite recently, in certain countries. Rehabilitation programs are a joke and waste of money, heavy user can't be cured.

Moreover, fight against narcotics in its current iteration is not only useless, it is counter-productive. After Mexican narco-mafia lost a number or top guys due to joint efforts of US an MX federal agencies, their places have been taken by "less qualified", to put it mildly. In other words - by butchers with IQ of 6-year old, killing and shooting just for fun of it. They used to be low-level enforcers, no class, would have never made it to the top, but we "helped" them.

Good for Mexico and their military!

I posted the excerpt in the hope that a person may develop a bit more patience and understanding when undergoing an inspection. It's sort of easy to believe that the soldiers are " acting too interested" when "obviously nothing ever goes on in Baja California".

Proposed penalty for Americans caught using Mexican marijuana:

"Sentence them to passing through a puesto de control 10 times a day for 30 days".

You just need to think of what would happen if the checkpoints weren't there. There would be a much heavier stream of cars and trucks full of drugs heading north. Fill a boat load up in Sonora or Sinaloa, offload to pangas heading for a Baja SOC beach, offload to vehicles, and take a nice drive north to a drop point close to a Tijuana - Mexicali tunnel. Sure there still is smuggling, but at least they are making it tougher to accomplish.
