broken fuel pump... in the chevy's you are lookin at 500 bux for the pump and it's inside the fuel tank.. I'm not sure what this ford ranger uses but
he is bypassing the pump and using gravity to feed the carb... this wont work if you have fuel injection.

Cap'n...I'm going to guess bad fuel pumps. A leak is cheap to fix.
We don't see that in the states (yet), but as we drift downward, have you noticed how many more cars there on the road these days with un-repaired
body and glass damage. I think they are like me. My insurance is useless for small things because I couldn't justify 'affording' the deductible
except in the case of a catastrophic loss. So gravity will do until a fuel pump is in the budget.
I was typing as '58' posted.
Here's a fix I found for a similar problem: Dodge Diesel ABS pump running constantly. (you lose ABS, cruise control, speedometer, and all the data in
the rear view mirror when you unplug it to shut it off.) You can still drive the truck. The stealership wants $400. because they built a
non-resettable breaker into the control module. I found them used at junk yards in the $160. range. Then I found an outfit on the east coast who
rebuilds them like new on a one day turn around for under $60. http://www.myairbags.com/abs.php
