Great Lobster at Vince's in Rosarito, Near the Rosarito Beach Hotel

Gypsy Jan - 9-7-2012 at 06:58 PM

Go to Vince's Fish Market and Restaurant, a large, two-story rustic place a few blocks north of the Rosarito Beach Hotel.

The "Vince's Combination" gives you a bowl of constantly refilled tortilla chips and salsa, a cup of fish soup, and we were served a plate that had a huge half lobster 'al vapor' (steamed, not fried, you have to tell them), and at a guess, it weighed than two pounds before being split, several butterflied, sauteed shrimp, a generous serving of calamari, a delicious egg-battered white fish filet and a fresh green salad, with a ramekin of melted butter on the side with a basket of freshly made corn and/or flour tortillas.

$15.74 U.S. PP

the price of a WHOLE Maine lobster these days is about $10/lb. granted, ambiance etc..... but a 1/2 a lobster?

that's why i've only been to pto nuevo twice over the years, when someone else is buying.

How in the world did lobsters get the nick name name "bug"... I never could figure that out.

Had a friend that went to Vince's and liked it too. I went with another friend to Ensenada and the overpass you turn off to go Wine Country you turn right instead of left then go a short ways to the blue and white building on the right side of the road for individual uncooked lobster. They will have to be bargained with but you can get a whole lobster like the ones they sell you in the eating places down here for $7.50 each. We bought them, brought them back home and had lobster several times and they tasted great! We had been told about this place by a guy that does a lot of deep sea fishing down here. Vince's Combo was a favorite of mine over 13 years ago when I lived in Rosarito with my ex husband and my son. They have quality food...

Went in there Tues. and bought a kilo of squid. Of course it was used for bait---- you see they also have a side room in front, left side, where you can buy fresh fish and other goodies!!
Some day I`ll eat there and get that combo--- thanks for the review!

A spiny lobster looks like a c-ckroach when it is small (1-2"). When I hoop net for lobsters at night and pull in a net, the small lobsters drop thru the net holes and onto the boat's landing area. At about $500 fine per bug you have to be very careful and find each black colored little bug before it quickly scurries away and finds a hiding place. They are very difficult to see on a dark moonless night.

Willardguy, they also have the male clams and I forgot the name they use but you know by looking at them they are the male clams,LOL. They also have some huge lobsters that go for about $16.50 each but I do mean huge. Take Care & Travel Safe------------ "No Hurry, No Worry, Just FUN" bajafun777

I agree that Vinces mid-town Rosarito is a find. Yes, they have much more than Lobster. When we owned a condo in Rosarito it was walking distance for dinner and we ate there often. Always much better than Puerto Nuevo due to the location and the variety on the menu.

We called them "bugs" in the early '50's for the obvious reason. Not sure how far back it began, but it sure fits. I think I'll try Vince's.

Vince's is the best seafood restaurant around. Gypsy Jan is right, I used to get the combo and it was delicious and what a deal. While I was at it, I would go down the road to Lupita's and get the best pedicure in the world where they use a razor and skillfully shave off the big callouses, safely and painlessly.
