Very cool, Bob. Is the break still that good over there? The breakwater has been worked on since and could have had an effect.....for better or worse.

I think so. They still hold many surfing events at that location. And, there are always surfers out there.

Thanks Bob. Nice brief shot of K38 before they built the towers too.

I'd like to see some old footage of this place:

my opinion is it isnn't the same since the river pushed thru. it used to break like a pointbreak and has definately chanced into a reef break. my opinion only.

now if you're talking Salsi? 12.10.83 +/- 6 months outta high school. I was the only guy in the water in these shots. Prolly the wave of my life!!! 6'5" single fin pintail.

the shark wouldn't bite, the bee wouldn't sting and Bugs Bunny tip-toed thru the brush unnoticed....

remember back in the early 60's a group of surfers famously scratched veni vidi vinci into the cliff face at K39? for the life of me I cant remember who though, anyone?
also the salsipuedes video is downright scary, talk about being rightly named!:O

I know S M very well. The river was pushed through after "El Nino" screwed up beach and the wave. It is coming back slowly. The rocks need to back fill all that's been lost I have spent more than a few nights and 6 or 5 beers talking about it.:light::light::light::light::light::light::light::light::light:

6 or 5 beers...... nice... usually you hear 5 or 6 beers. I am assuming they were Pacifico's

Sweet old movie! I'll never forget my 7'-2" single fin Shros and my beaver-tail wetsuit top!

Back in 1969 I surfed with a 9'9" long board... an Oceanside Noserider. It was a step-down nose and it was nice to hang 10 on that board. My x-wife still has that board in storage somewhere in Miami. I'd love to get it back.
