Getting ready to start the preparations for the upcoming Baja Honeymoon.
Had some questions to get a idea of the routing and planning. A lot of this I know I can find out just by reading and research. But I wanted to ask
people that have been doing this and know whats up.
1. Are there any good hot springs?
2. Looking to camp 9 of the days and make our way south to Bahia Concepcion and camping there a few days. Are campsites in route and there pretty
packed during the holiday season. (Dec 24-Jan 4)
3. I know cell phones don't work at all or that good. Should we invest in renting a satellite phone?
4. Any good suggestions on cool little hotels. B&B's?

Guadalupe Canyon - Just 2 hrs. south of Tecate - Gasoline in El Hongo along Hwy 2 nearing La Rumorosa.
Puertecitos - 1 hr. south of San Felipe along the coast inside of the Puertecitos pueblito.

pretty cold on the bay during christmas...
you should bring a wetsuit for the water
a heater
and jackets
it can get windy too
3 days on 3 days off
lots of campers but not like the usa during summer

They are going on their honeymoon , hope they don't need a heater already .
Dress warm in the evening , but if it's not a norte blowing the weather is great .

Because of a warm water current keeps the ocean temp around 70, the weather and ocean is actually warmer on the mid pacific side around Christmas and
in case you want to hang here for xmas or new years....we always have a pretty awesome dance party you are invited to! plus a surf competition...surf

I second Shari's suggestion for going to Bahia Asuncion for the holidays ...it will be different and it will be a blast. Are you sure you can't

If you're from a colder part of the north, then the bay will be nice and warm at Christmas. Water will seem cool but not cold, and jackets could be
useful in the evening. Camping en route will not be crowded, at the bay it could be. The best spots will be occupied but something should be
available. Show up late morning and look for someone packing up. The sat phone is dependent on your personal budget and risk tolerance. If you stay
on major roads there is a lot of traffic that time of year and help isn't hard to come by. It's not exactly like you can call AAA for a tow if you

If you search Hot Springs, you will find many... but few are developed, and most of those are crowded and less than private. Arturo's at Guadalupe
Canyon was the ultimate... sadly, no more... the other camps there in the canyon are far from private. Puertecitos is in the tidal zone, mixing with
sea water for various temps. San Cosme (Agua Verde road access, south of Loreto) is similar to Puertecitos. Bahia Concepcion has several along the
water. Mision San Borja has a 'warm' spring that you can bathe in... as mentioned San Carlos outside of Ensenada and Agua Caliente off the highway to
Ojos Negros/ San Felipe is another developed hot spring.
