So I'm leaving home right now, headed to a couple days in Cardiff for last minute details and supplies and then planning to cross the border later
this week depending on what Miriam decides to do...
Anyway, for the last few years, I've always driven straight to Sanata Rosalilita; cross the border at first light and make it to the pull off the 1D
by 2:30. I'm looking for any different suggestions for a first day's destination? I hear people make it to Abreojos in 12 hours from the border,
considering that or maybe just the Wall...
Will be driving a Taco solo with surf boards and a dual sport motorcyle carried on the back. Looking for a place to try to find some surf and as far
from the border is reasonable. Fully self contained.
Anyone wanna share their secret spots

I'd get some supplies in Cardiff but keep going! There is a hyped up NW swell approaching, and I'd much rather be far down into Baja than surfing with
the rest of the world up here.
Since its a NW, you've got pretty much all the spots north of G. Negro, then again towards Todos Santos in Baja sur that like the NW. Id go to the
Wall, and since you're familiar with Santa Rosalilita, go to the Harbor or the spots around there.
Abreojos doesn't pick up much NW but then again there's also probably going to be some S in the water too.

It's pretty hard to resist the thought of nice NW swell lighting up all the points north of Guerro...Hopefully I'll finish up packing and details and
be crossing the border on Wednesday or Thursday...and Miriam mellows out and just brings waves...
We'll keep an eye on this storm, I'm considering the foolishness of planning to camp during/after this tropical storm/hurricane...

Don't forget about the bugs and snakes that come out after rains.
We are not riding the mules out into the campos because of all the bugs and snakes. Beaches might be different for snakes, I don't know. But the
bugs will be there.

There will be plenty of surf at south facing and NW facing. The wall is easy and may pay off.

if you want to do abre in a day, we do it 3 or 4 times a year to la bocana, which is PAST abreojos by 20 minutes. the reason this is possible is
1. the road from highway 1 to abre is now paved and an easy ride
2. the further south you get, the less the traffic, also makes for ease
Chelo's is a nice place to stay at if you don't want to camp or get rained on- her husband is a surfer and her son is too.
For secret surf spots, you wanna talk to woody but I doubt he will share

I'm not seeing a whole lot of NW swell showing, so Abreojos it is! Just pulled into Guerrero and calling it a day, will finish the drive to Abre
tomorrow.
The drive down the Mex 1 today (9.27) was awesome. Crossed the border at about 6:00am and after an aborted attempt to drive into the Wall pulled into
G.N. at about 4:00. Waved through the border and checkpoints with nothing but smiles, NO traffic, smooth sailing through the northern agriculture
zones, and everything green and even standing water in places (not on the road)
Some clouds and humid weather, couple raindrops today, nothing more. Now question is where to eat in G.N.??

try Las Cazuelas at the entrance to town with all the plants in front...wonder if they have mano de leon...lions paw scallops? tell em shari sent
ya....also have most excellent pulpo espanola and his shrimp is wonderful too...all great seafood at reasonable prices....or for something very
fancy...Don gus...or excellent tacos...Cowboy Hotel restaurant....hmmm...this is making me hungry
