Eco-Alianza de Loreto, A.C. is a nonprofit membership organization of environmental organizations and individuals committed to working collaboratively
to protect and preserve the coastal, marine and terrestrial eco-systems of the Municipality of Loreto while promoting smart growth strategies and
viable communities in the region.
What we do: Inspire leadership, collaborative networks, research, education and expanded public participation with the goal of protecting the region’s
fragile eco-systems and promoting sustainable, healthy communities for the benefit of the flora, fauna and residents of the greater Loreto region.
We are all in this together...
To influence balanced environmental, economic and social development, Eco-Alianza’s Members are building an organization with a broad vision aligned
with the region’s future. No one organization can do it all; we are all in this together. To have the best chance of success, Eco-Alianza is taking
the lead in Loreto to form powerful alliances in the region consisting of NGOs, academics, businesses, governmental agencies, media and PR companies,
politicians, locals and new residents. Employing a “coalition-based strategy”, Eco-Alianza has a unique opportunity to become a leader in the region
to assist Loreto’s decision-makers to adopt responsible growth policies and become an example to other coastal communities worldwide.
Eco-Alianza partners with over 20 organizations, including branches of the Mexican government such as SEMARNAT, CONAP.
EcoAlianza participates in important events held in Loreto, such as the annual Turtle symposium, and in May, The Conservation Science Symposium was
held in Loreto, BCS, Mexico from May 25-27, 2011. This event focused on the application of science to the conservation and management of natural
resources throughout the Baja California peninsula and the Gulf of California. The purpose of this event was to create a space in which we could
discuss, and celebrate, applied science- or Conservation Science- taking place throughout the region. The event went beyond information exchange and
created a space in which concrete actions for long-term conservation in the region was discussed and agreed upon.
