What's the price of that fantasy-mobile? You may have to pawn your new camera for this purchase.

Udo - 9-25-2012 at 04:01 PM

Why be a slave to 9 MPG, regardless of it's Baja worthiness?

Down towards the bottom of the page, $60-90K depending on the build.

watizname - 9-25-2012 at 04:33 PM

I like it. Who cares if it gets only 9MPH. Go have fun.

now that is just bad ass,,, so Cortez have you taken delivery yet, and how did you trick it out, talking about the options that your able to get with it, send us some pics of your rig also

bigmike58 - 9-25-2012 at 06:21 PM

Those are badass and probably the best all around vehicle for camping and exploring baja.. are you getting diesel or gas? My B.I.L bought the 4x4 quigley version and has over 200k on the 6.0 diesel and he gets around 13 mpg and burns biodiesel.

Ateo - 9-25-2012 at 06:24 PM

Totally bad ass and an all time rig. I knew a guy named Mike that would just explore the peninsula for months at a time in one of these............lucky.

It should get a lot better than 9 mpg. My long-sold 4x4 van motorhome with 7.4L gasser got 8-9 mpg and it was much bigger than a Sportsmobile. With diesel the mpg will be even higher. My current 4x4 MH 26 ft. gets 13 mpg with the Cummins 5.9.

•Financing is available up to 15 years with 15% down for qualified RVs.
•All interest charges may be deductible from your Federal Income Tax returns as a second home (motorhome). Consult with your accountant.

CortezBlue - 9-25-2012 at 07:03 PM

NOT

Sorry I woke up from my dream. These are all custom and from what I can tell they start at about $60K and up. Even used with 20K to 50K miles they are in the $50k range

But a girl/guy can dream:coolup:

That's ridiculous that you could receive a tax deduction for buying a total luxury item like this.

LOL.

If I wanted one, I'd build it myself or have someone (U-Joint) do the build for half the price.

Marc - 9-25-2012 at 07:42 PM

I have always loved these things.:cool::cool:

I am looking for a Econoline 4x4 to convert. Since we are both in Fenix I will send it over to you to work on:lol:

WideAngleWandering - 9-25-2012 at 08:44 PM

Sportsmobiles are pretty swanky.

If I were choosing a vehicle all over again I'd be sorely tempted to start with a late 90s E350 Coachmen conversion, add a locking rear diff, small lift, aggressive tires and call it a day. A 4wd conversion would be doable too, but still, I bet you could have a pretty decent 2wd camper van for under $10k that could handle most baja roads.

WideAngleWandering - 9-25-2012 at 09:25 PM

As long as it's black with a red stripe.

I really want to see a picture of edm1's rig...

DavidE - 9-26-2012 at 06:34 AM

I had a horse that was near useless for trail riding in the rocks; his name was ALPO.

micah202 - 9-26-2012 at 09:00 AM

...for the budget-minded,,nothing beats an 80's toyota van 4x4
...a full 5x8' behind the front seats,,
,,usually under $5G fully restored,,mine was ~$3500 with full mechanical restoration,,,,,,,25to30mpg.

....those toyo's mostly have manual hubs with hi/lo
,though the automatics just have one range and hubs stay engaged but the 4x switches off/on.
...the 4x 5speed is a sweet machine-just don't expect to be passing semi's uphill once you're hauling more than 1500lbs of toys!

baitcast - 9-26-2012 at 10:09 AM

I bought one of these sweethearts this summer but alas its only a 2/wheeler,got a penthouse and the works even a hot water heater:lol: nothing like roughing it.

1992 140000 miles, looks and drives like it was built yesterday,5000$ out the door, don,t need 4/wheels any-more for the fishing I,m doing these days.
Rob
Its the Ford version also.

The trouble with these very nice vehicles.....the odds that they will still be were you parked them last night is SLIM.

scouse - 9-29-2012 at 08:57 PM

I've been dreaming of that Sportsmobile for a while as well Blue.

One like that Green one (the one I love) runs about $120K

All I need is the money and she's mine.
