Puerto Penasco to Santa Ana

Hello everyone,
I'm taking a motorcycle trip from Puerto Penasco (rocky point) to Matzatlan and then the ferry across to baja and back to the states. Is anyone famliar with Hwy 37 from Puerto Penasco to Santa Ana? Road condition? Is it well traveled or lonely? Gas stops? Thanks in advance for any info.

Taking the 'new' highway from El Golfo de Santa Clara to Puerto Peņasco, Frank?

Is there a paved road from PP along the coast to Kino and Guaymas now?

Or not depending on our freshness.

When is your departure?

I'm thinking about going to the rocky point motorcycle rally/party which is the weekend of Nov 8th I believe. I haven't made my mind up for sure but thinking about going down to Matzatlan and then the ferry to baja sur and back up to S.D. and then home to Vegas. That way I wouldn't have to go down and back on the same road in Baja. I probobly won't be able to commit until a couple of weeks out.

The road from PP to a bit west of Caborca has a rough surface at times but it is a good road. From Caborca to Santa Ana, it is a superhighway and quite excellent.

There is fuel in at least two communities between PP and Caborca.

Nookster, you're right to wonder about gas availability. My advice would be to top up your bike's tank when you can, unless you can see a big town mapped not too far down the road. There are some long stretches without a Pemex heading south. Mexico is a big country.
