DianaT - 9-30-2012 at 04:09 PM

It is up to Ken to tell what happened if he chooses to do so. But it appears he is out of the hospital and doing well and I hope that does not change. ---

Facebook does get information around. But it is up to him if he wants the information here. GET WELL

I didn't know he was in the hospital. Did anybody here mention that he was in the hospital? Seems strange that I would have missed forty pages of good wishes.

You're thinking of a different Ken. I made the same mistake before.

vgabndo - 9-30-2012 at 07:39 PM

I visited Ken's page and didn't see anything unusual at all.

In fact there appears to be a very intelligent 47%er posting on that page. Useless welfare bum that he is.:lol::lol:

David K - 9-30-2012 at 07:44 PM

Ken was one of many who just ordered a book. I hope he is not ill!

????? What? It was posted that he was in the hospital and because that information was on facebook --- but this is not facebook and not everyone wants everything posted here -- it is a personal decision. I hesitated to post that he was out of the hospital, and in hindsight, I should have not posted same --- twas not my right to do so. It is up to everyone as to what they want posted here ----

Do not understand your post.

it would be just like him to keep it to himself, but I have a feeling he's ok.

Hi to all my Nomad friends

I had a little medical episode. I've been in the hospital for two days. I have two pulmonary embolisms, one in each lung. They came from clots in my right leg. My docs tell me I really dodged a bullet, many people get this diagnosis from their autopsy. I started noticing a shortness of breath about two weeks ago, it got progressively worse until I couldn't walk ten steps without gasping for air. They have been dissolving the clots with blood thinners and injections. Longterm it is treatable with blood thinners.

I am home now, very weak and shaky but still on this side of the sod. I will monitor the Board every day. I really appreciate your concerns,

++Ken++

Ateo - 9-30-2012 at 08:30 PM

Ken, glad you're home and wishing you the best. I'm sure you're taking it easy. Glad you went to the hospital.

Glad you're OK, even though I don't know you! We are all someones family or friend, or son or daughter. Get well man.

Glad you showed up to clear up any underground conspiracy theory about your health.

Stay on this side of the sod --- rest and rest some more until you are completely well

I should have posted sooner, of course I wanted my Nomad friends to know, but I was feeling rotten ever since I got home. Sorry about the conspiracy theories :)

Get well, Ken!

Iflyfish - 9-30-2012 at 10:15 PM

I felt rotten after my DVT and PE's, goes with the turf. Get well soon amigo!

You will get better! You dodged a very serious bullet.

For those who are unfamiliar with Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolisms it is important to know that the only way blood gets back to the heart is through the contraction of leg muscles. If we are bed ridden or don't move our legs for long periods of time then blood can pool in the veins and clot. The chunks of these clots can break off and lodge in the lungs, heart or brain, very serious matter indeed, life threatening. This is something that often happens on long distance air flights. Many Pro Football players were support stockings that go up to their knees while on long flights.

Stay moving and stay hydrated. You can and should contract your calves every so often when driving. Make frequent stops to walk around when driving and STAY HYDRATED.

I'm sorry to hear of your recent ailments, Ken, but am glad to hear that you're on the mend.

I read a bit about DVT and it looks as though my dad may have had it in his later years. We never knew.

I don't suppose there is a connection between DVT and all the diving that you did?

Apparently it's undetected until things get bad so it's really good you were seen by some sharp doctors.

Best wishes and keep in touch, amigo.

Gracias Igor. I asked the docs if this was diving-related, and they said no. The clots are masses, not bubbles. Diving-related embolisms are nitrogen bubbles that get lodged in places they shouldn't be. Thank you for the kind words.

paranewbi - 10-1-2012 at 06:22 AM

And thanks for sharing Ken...
It's an informative lesson first hand. Don't blow off a little shortness of breath!

Get well!

Natalie Ann - 10-1-2012 at 06:52 AM

Scary stuff, Ken. I am so glad you got medical attention in time.
Great big good wishes for a complete recovery.

Ken, best wishes for a complete recovery. If you don't hear from me for a while, I'm out jogging. Just started today (and deep knee bends).
