Kawasaki Dissolves Off Road Program

TMW - 10-2-2012 at 04:46 PM

Just heard that Kawasaki has dissolved their Off Road Racing Program. I assume they will stay with MX/SX.

Back at the 88' BK1000 they were on top of the world...

No doubt three of the best. Danny Laporte was a world MX champion in Europe.

Paul Krause raced a bike for many more years and in winning the 1000 to La Paz in 95 dedicated it to Danny Hamel who was killed in the 500 race that year. I'd have to check but I think Paul also won in 96 after which Kawasaki pulled out of SCORE.

Larry Roeseler probably came out smelling more like roses than either Paul or Danny LaPorte with his teaming with the Herbst then Norman then back to Herbst. He also had a run with chevy small and big trucks and raced with Ivan.

I never heard much more on Danny LaPorte after his Kawasaki Baja rides.

Who or what is RV?

willardguy - 10-3-2012 at 10:12 PM

sorry. RV is ryan villopoto, just signed a 3 year 2 1/2 million dollar a year contract with kawasaki. there goes the budget!:wow:

dtbushpilot - 10-4-2012 at 06:35 AM

Please excuse my "brain freeze" moment, with Villopoto out of action this year I kinda forgot about him. At least they will get their money's worth if he stays healthy.

Off road isn't a good venue as a spectator sport and they don't sell a lot of bikes because of their involvement.
