Anyone travelled from San Igancio to San Juanico lately? How are the saltflats after all the rain? It looks like the Baja 1000 route takes the high
road this year - has there been much pre-running along there and on in to San Juanico? I'm hoping to travel that way the week prior to the race -

I am wondering about the road between San Juanico and Cadeje. Anyone driven it since the rains?
Got to go Saturday - the 13th - for the Aeromedico's first clinic of the year there in Cadeje. Usually I fly from Mulege with them, but this time
need to drive up.

Looking at the race map, that section will be the race course itself, if I'm not mistaken. Might be a bit busy (and torn up?) on the 13th, but I

In 2002 the B1k took the high road and while prerunning about a week before the race we came across a MASSIVE silt bed. I looked for an easier way
around to no avail on my bike. My buddy took the leap of faith and blasted through with a wave of silt over his ford f-250 4x4 and somehow made it
through but he still has silt in the nooks and crannies of his truck today.
I don't know if the silt will be as bad this year but there is the option of going through El Datil and bypassing that section. Beware of the sand

I drove that section in late February on big motos but not since any rains. We did ride several miles through the dunes on the sand highway which was
a lot of work for bigger bikes. I understand that can be avoided? Datil was a riot, the kids came out and they really could have gotten hurt.
I also rode the high road on a medium sized moto in 2011. Rocks in the sand, silt beds, all in all it was a full day from San Ignacio to San Juanico.
Probably won't do that route again since I'm not a racer.
How long does it take for the salt road to recover/drain after big rains? My bike had to be thoroughly cleaned when I hit La Paz to get that smudgey

The 1000 course runs the same as in 2010 from San Ignacio. It turns off the main road and runs toward El Patrocino turning west and around down to El
Cuarenta. Here is the race course on Google Earth.

The race course route through that section comes back onto the main road a few miles after (south) of the silt bed area so it won't be beat up by the
prerunning. I rode from San Ignacio to Loreto a few days before the 2010 B1k and from the point where the race course joins the main (high) road to
San Juanico was wide and fast.
