Wondering how friends and family can come to visit us in San Felipe without airport access? What are the different modes of transportation from the
border towns?

Wild that none of the San Felipe Nomads (El Dorado Ranch) have responded...?
There is no scheduled airline into the airport there (7 miles south of town).
There is no railroad line to San Felipe.
That leaves only cars and buses... and there is regular bus service from Mexicali (125 miles north of San Felipe).

Unless you can hitch a ride with someone, the bus is the only option.

San Diego Airport........rent a car (insurance is numbing).......proceed to San Felipe. This is how my better half does it. Drive is 5 hours
San Diego Airport.......cab over to Greyhound......to Calixico and then cab over to foot entrance into Mexico........Bus terminal is within walking
distance or cab over........super clean buses. tell the driver in advance (with a two dollar bill) that you would like to be dropped of at
___xxx_____ instead of the terminal at the end of town (near the nursery).
Private charter air flight service will require left arm and right leg for payment of tickets.
I drive to San Felipe (as I am today in an few hours) from Sacramento ca. It takes 14 hours and 6 bottles of Starbucks Iced Coffee.

The only other option is bussing from Tijuana
to Mexicali, I believe you have to change busses,
then to San Felipe, that is the route the
ABC busses take. SF not an easy place to get to,
the idea of car rental to Calexico then bus to
SF sounds good, or I suppose you could take
a Greyhound to Calexico then bus to SF

Cab from SD airport to Greyhound, it's cheap, then Greyhound to TJ. I recall seeing a bus from TJ to San Felipe on their schedule. Don't know if this
involves bus change, though. No big deal. TJ bus station is quite decent, and they will always find somebody at ticket counter who speaks English,
younger clerks usually do, bus drivers usually not. TJ bus station is structured like a Turkish bazaar - a dozen of different bus companies, each with
its own counter, and not all the companies run buses to San Felipe.

Rode "Americanos" bus from San Diego to El Paso to pick up a van. Left from San Diego Greyhound depot, stopped at the McDonalds in El Cajon, I thought
to pick up additional passengers, no, everybody got off and got all their food and drinks for the trip.
Stopped at the border in Calexico for passengers (you could walk across right there) and bombed it for El Paso.
I have not ever had such a pleasant bus experience. Nice people, super sanitary bus with all amenities, excellent drivers who drove in shifts and
stayed aboard sleeping when not driving, inexpensive.... Apparently Greyhound uses this company from it's facilities for border runs. I was the only
gringo aboard. 1,000% better than Greyhound in all respects, cool ride.
