Pavement to continue south of L.A. Bay?

brewer - 10-11-2012 at 10:30 PM

I was just down there and the talk is about the road being paved south to possibly open up a copper mine. There were surveyors out putting in stakes.

Anyone have any info on this?

I believe that's where the 25 story hotel and casino are going to be located........... I mean what else could it be?

Stay thirsty my friend..:::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Kevin
As you saw they are surveying the road now, but who knows when they will start actual grading and paving. The local rumor is that they are going to pave 10 km south of town. Rumors are worth what you pay for them, usually nothing.

Once you get south of town that road is mighty fast as it is
Hate to see good truckin' roads get that black stuff that gets potholed
then the trip gets slower and rougher...

Just what is at 10 km south of town?

bkbend - 10-12-2012 at 08:36 AM

A broad valley with cordon, cholla, ocotilla and assorted other plants with spines.

Not much, Sammy's old ranch. They did the same thing a few years ago north of town. They paved 10 km and it just ends. Happens to end right at the military base.

10 klicks is the end of the bad road

Once past there that road flies

On the other hand, what in the world is important enough to the south to need paving?

Animas is a pit- last time I drove in there I swore I heard banjos playing the "Deliverance" theme

Las Animas (The Spirits/Souls) holds a mystery! http://vivabaja.com/109

10 km. (6 miles) isn't much beyond the south shore of the bay... Camp Gecko is 4 miles from town. The Las Animas road is approx. 27 miles from town.

All this paving is making dirt bike trips harder to plan. Knobbies no like asphalt.

bkbend - 10-12-2012 at 01:44 PM

Quite a few split roads off the graveled surface in that area. Shouldn't be hard to find a knobby-friendly route through there.

Paulina - 10-12-2012 at 09:08 PM

I don't want it. Not at all.

I've actually had reoccurring bad dreams about something like this happening. The rest of the dream has my place surrounded by condos and an OXXO at the corner. Sorry, but I could do without the electricity as well.

...and so would the dirt bags who would have easy access to and from town. Robberies would go up ten fold down our way. Maybe give the home owners on the La Gringa end a break.

Yep, the homes south of Puertocitos are being vandalized more frequently now that the paved road has come in.
