About a week ago local fishermen began to pull in some nice squid here in Palmas bay. The co-op or some enterprising young man called the squid buyers
and they now have an 18 wheeler semi full of ice on a hard spot in the sand on our beach. They are paying 40 pesos a kilo so our guys can make a
killing if they can get their pangas out.
They were not happy campers when I showed them the local weather picture with the northers all this week -- they'll be home in their hammocks while
the ice melts. Makes up in a tiny way for the bizzillions that have been caught near St. Rosalia year after year to satisfy the cat food market.
