I thought the Cuesta Real was a motel and if it was destroyed how can they rent rooms?

If you want to know, why don't you U2u like the post suggests?

We stayed there in our Lance camper a few years ago. Nice place and nice location. Sad to hear the news of damage AGAIN.

tiotomasbcs - 10-24-2012 at 09:49 AM

Semantics. Power & water could be inoperable! Imagine...pool full of mud as might be the lower rooms. Too bad as Pepe and Sandra work hard and are very nice people!! recent medical condition only makes things more difficult. Please support Cuesta as well as any other Mulege business. Suerte. Tio

KurtG - 10-24-2012 at 10:09 AM

Was there again damage at Las Casitas and Hacienda?

R,

Please inform Pepe and Sandra that Nina and I will be renewing our 2013 lease on our travel trailer space early. Nina will call Sandra later this afternoon to work out the financial details. We’re headed down to La Cuesta in November to help out where we can. Pepe and Sandra are two of the friendliest and most gracious people we know on either side of the border and are the epitome of the Baja Spirit. La Cuesta has been a terrific part of our Baja experience and we're praying for a full recovery. We’ll see all of you folks soon. tx ws

Las Casitas

CasaManzana - 10-25-2012 at 05:41 AM

I stayed at Las Casitas last Friday and all was fine there. I walked by Hacienda Hotel and it looked fine from the outside. Further down the street the internet place by Motel Squid had a foot of water inside at some point during the flood but is now open again.

willyAirstream - 10-25-2012 at 10:02 AM

2 rooms are open and occupied now, no phone or internet yet. Thx Walter, i will tell her! That will really help.
Kurt, no damage to either, but house on the otherside of road, houses and stores, got acouple feet of water.

Anyone wanting to make a pre payment for a future time, greatly accepted.

Should be back to normal in 2-3 weeks, now that she can hire help.
Thanks everyone!

Pepe, Sandra and Richard are great folks!

I'm still scheming on another moto ride down to La Paz for Carnaval which is Feb 8-12, 2013. It's currently snowing hard and there will be skiing tomorrow in the mountains...I'd rather be enjoying a cerveza or margarita in the warmth of Mulege myself.

Hey willy, I thought I saw a Keep Calm and Carry On t-shirt on the website. My English born wife would love that but I can't seem to find it again. Did my eyes or my memory deceive me?

:tumble:

Why can't it be posted for everyone to see? I'll ask a question any way I want. Didn't know you were running the board now.

If anyone in Mulje can afford the cost of their own cleanup it would be the Cuesta family it's called the cost of doing buisness.

Lindalou, a motel in baja is called a hotel. "Destroyed" was too strong. No structural damage, beds were moved, most furniture covered in mud, rooms 6 inches of mud, . So, rooms are being cleaned, painted and furniture cleaned at a rate of one room every 3 days.

JP, not asking for donations, only advanced payments. Hacienda hotel never fully recovered , ie restaurant, still not open. Alfonso still has 4/7 medical care etc etc

Did not know they were called a hotel. Stayed in the RV section some years ago when Ken and family were running it. Lived there a month before moving to Santispac.

It is a small world. Do you know where they went? It seems they left after the first big storm after we were there. It destroyed the place then. Sorry can't remember any dates or the name of the storm. It was one of the reasons we decided not to live there after all.

I would also like to know whatever happend to Ken and family. He was very kind to us during our stay there and helped us repair a small plumbing leak in our camper. He found spare parts in his shed and spent about two hours to repair the leak and it worked! We had a fine cigar break before we departed. Great guy!!

Bob,

Ken split up with the woman (gringa) he was with during his time at Cuesta, I don't know if she was his wife or not. Left Cuesta and ended up over at the restaurant at El Hotelito in Punta Chivato. He was there until he was injured in an auto accident. I heard he went NOB to seek medical care and I don't know if he returned to PC/Mulege after that. He may have returned to El Hotelito I just can't confirm that. Someone in Punta Chivato may be able to fill in more details.

Ken

Alfonso

C205Driver - 10-26-2012 at 08:12 PM

Hey Richard ( or anyone in Mulege ) . . .Please tell Alfonso I send my regards ( 1st time I have not flown down to Baja in October since 1994 ) and think often of my last flight with him & his son to Loreto & back! ( Last October, & Alfonso got to fly my Stationair & he was ALL smiles! ) . . .Hopefully, I will fly down there this spring . . Adrien

willyAirstream - 10-27-2012 at 08:17 AM

Adrien,
I will surely tell him. He was smiling for weeks after. I m afraid his condition will prevent any future rides, so it was fantastic that he went with you.

Sweetwater - i will have a shirt designed for you, as soon as i get the mud off my shoes :-D
