Hey there! Hubs and me are seriously talking about a looooooong overdue trek to Baja this February. (Has it really been 6 years since our last visit?)

I'm trying to get my hands on the latest Baja Almanac, as we gave ours away and who knows where it ended up. The website says the publishers are away until the end of August (?) and there will be no orders until after that. I sent an email but have had no reply. Anyone know of where I can snag one for a reasonable amount of $'s ?

Also, will anyone we (Kristene and Fred) know be down around Mulege this February/March? Would love to say 'hola' if you are! Capt. Mike? David K?

It's good to be back. I have been busy (swamped) with my own book that's just been published. (Not about Baja, science fiction, lol). Thanks for the links, I will get on that pronto AND have a look at your book - congrats!

Sorry to say that McLulu's has closed down..She is enjoying retirement..

She made a mean fish taco didn't she? Even this year when we all froze our collective tutu's off, she served it with a smile.

What awesome photos. I'll have to dig up one of mine. She always made me smile.

I remember one day, before the stand got really "fancy", she was trying to squeeze through the door to go out back, (the door being a piece of plywood that wouldn't open all the way). As she was wedged in, she looked over her shoulder back at us, shrugged and said, "Lulu no Barbie!"

One of many laughs at that place.

So, that 2009 version is the most recent? Is this the long-awaited new version that seemed to take forever?

Is it actually "new" with different maps, GPS coords, etc, or just a reprinting of an older one?

What I'd really like in this excellent almanac is "Mile Post Markers" It'd make a huge difference to the likes of me.

Didn't know where to post this, so excuse me if it's in the wrong place. I recently acquired the latest edtion of the almanac and discovered in another forum that some of the latitude data is incorrect. Here's what you need to change so you don't get screwed up.

Baja California Almanac Topo Map 2009 Edition Errors:

The LATITUDE numbers on pages/ maps 5, 6, 7, 12 and 18 need to be corrected.

Map 5 & 6: the latitude changes: 31º needs to be 30º and the 30º needs to be changed to 29º (the minutes are fine).

Map 7: 31º needs to be 29º and the one 30º needs to be 28º.

Map 12: right side only latitude figures are all wrong, should be the same numbers as on the left side.

Map 18: degree figures on both sides are all wrong: the 25º numbers should all be 24º, and the 26º numbers should all be 25º.

I guess I should say that I don't take any responsibility for any errors in the above posting.

Thanks for that! We don't generally use the lat and long, but it's good to know.

BajaLou and I posted the latitude errors after we got the new edition, in 2009... I had heard those were fixed at the next printing??? There are a few other errors, but overall... it is about the best map of roads and trails in Baja.

Here are the corrections:

2009 Almanac latitude corrections to pencil in:

On Maps 5 & 6, the latitude changes to make: All the 31º figures needs to be 30º (the minutes are fine).

On Map 7: All the 31º figures need to be changed to 29º and the one 30º figure needs to be 28º.

Map 12 [RIGHT side only] latitude figures are wrong, they should be the same numbers as on the left side.

Map 18 degree figures on both sides are wrong: the 25º figures should all be 24º, and the 26º figures should all be 25º.

Over on the Sonora coast... the town is EL GOLFO (not GULFO).
