Mexico negotiating with vigilantes holding town

Mexican authorities say they are close to striking a deal to provide more security for a southern town where angry villagers seized control after a
taxi driver was kidnapped and killed.
Olinala Mayor Eusebio Gonzalez says the takeover began Saturday after about 100 people stormed a house where the four presumed kidnappers were hiding
and killed the suspects by burning the building.
He says nearly 700 residents have since been taking turns policing entry into the town by barricading streets and installing checkpoints.
Gonzalez said Friday that the taxi driver's killing was the latest in a series of violent attacks. He says Olinala residents are demanding more

In Chiapas during the spate of bus robberies the robbers stopped the wrong bus. It was full of men who were traveling to a coffee finca from the big
city (Tapachula).
The news accounts said the four men were armed with assault rifles. The men were all armed with machetes. The campesinos attacked. Five of them died.
The four hijackers were chopped into such tiny bits they couldn't be identified. Bus hikackings went to zero.
The reporter said many of the men were suffering from hangovers when the bus got hijacked.

Another example of la raza taking care of it's own business. Everyone must take resposibilty. The police cannot control crime without the help of
the people. A neighorhood watch program is a good example of positive steps to control your own destiny. The shame is that slowly, as Mexicans

It's more than just a shame on several levels. Most importantly it isolates people from society where society needs less isolation. We already have
too much I, me, my. Just look around a resturant at all the people with their face in their I, me, my Pad ignoring who they are with. This isolation
is exacerbated when you drive thru a garded gate, press a button to enter your home and press again to seal your cocoon. A successful society needs
dialog. The police need eyes, they cannot be everywhere. If you close yourself behind drawn curtians and expect the police to take care crime, you
are part of the problem. One of the greatest traditions in Mexico is the warm commerce and public friendship. Coupled with their love and support of

The real "shame" is that norte Americanos keep trying to impose their will, ideals and values on the people of Mexico.
If Mexicans want to live in a gated community and have garage door openers, so be it.
Also, public interaction with the police is a two way street. (Think Community Policing-ah, there I go again with a norte Americano view). If the
police do not want to interact with the people, so be it.
How many times in Baja/Mexico do you see the police (local/state/federal) out of their cars/trucks walking down the sidewalk in the business districts
or walking in residential areas interacting with the citizens????? They prefer to ride around at 60 MPH with their windows rolled up, the air

when a small village brought swift justice to a child molester
