RV Towing Baja

I spoke to a fellow golfer about towing a 5th wheel to Baja Sur without prior experience. He had been a professional hauler for RV's and was quite emphatic that I would be a "fool" to try Highway 1 down to Baja Sur with my lack of experience and the small clearance of a 29 foot 5th wheel.

My wife found the above post on Baja Nomad forum and we contacted Tom about his service. There is always some trepidation about sending PayPal to a stranger, but he showed up in San Diego, right on time. Because we had not had access to the trailer, it turned out the lights were not working properly. Tom debugged the problem and we were off and running.

Tom handled every detail with aplumb as we drove behind his big engine diesel dually. Once we got to Abreojos, he showed his skill at positioning the 5th wheel through povo to a narrow pad that was in construction. This was not easy, and I was very happy with the result.

I would highly recommend Tom at http://www.bajawheeling.com/ for any towing needs you have. He is a great guy and good at what he does.

Personally, I would not be afraid to drive our 45' bus plus our 26' trailer down Hwy 1. I know that Hwy 1 is sort of narrow in some places, but they are all easily passable with a 10' wide by 76' long rig.
I know we will get some looks, and have bought slip-on shoe booties for the inspectors at the military check points, etc.
