We stayed at this nice little motel in Tortugas on our trip last month that was cut short by TS Paul. Pretty little courtyard and very nice
hospitable hosts. Room was small but with comfortable queen size bed, good hot water and good wifi signal. Family was busy preparing for storm but
very gracious. A bargain at 270 pesos.David K - 11-7-2012 at 02:57 PM

Trip was very curtailed due to the weather, we seriously considered continuing to Asuncion but if the storm hit we didn't want to be a burden. We had
spent a night in GN (old standby Hotel Dunas) then went to El Arco and Pozo Aleman. Continued east and visited a rock art site then to San
Francisquito where we camped. The next day we drove all the way across the penninsula to Tortugas while watching the dark clouds approaching from the
south. Our plan had been to take the old road from San Jose de Castro to Asuncion, spend a night with Juan and Shari then continue to Campo Rene then
on to Mulege and a trip to Agua Verde. We had seen postings from Mulege and in a rare display of common sense we headed homeward. I'll probably head
south on my motorcycle again soon but our next driving trip will be our annual mid-March whale watch trip. While I am retired Kathy still works so we
have to schedule around her vacation time.David K - 11-7-2012 at 05:51 PM
Thanks Kurt. I hope you found the painted cave worth the effort.
