Herman Hill & Hidden Gold

Marc - 11-22-2012 at 08:49 AM

So I am in the Museo in Bahia L A and this old guy (I am 71 and he looked old enough to be my father) comes in and chats up the gal at the front desk. As I am looking through the books on sale he comes over and recommends a book he says he wrote and then points out a piece of mining machinery he donated. I didn't think much about it but I buy the book and started reading that day. Turns out it is a wonderful story of this mans life and a history of the Bahia de Los Angeles area.
We managed to find him at his home that evening and he very cordially signed my copy of his book. This man has done it all.

book sellers - a bit less expensive

Go to addall.com - look on the used book page search, type in title in the proper place and you'll find 'em for under ten bucks. Some may not be in pristine condition but good "reading" copies.

You will always find Herman chatting up a gal.

The book has been reviewed here when it was published... I enjoyed it greatly and even more since I know Herman. Now about the lost Jesuit treasure... ( better get the book)

Herman just celebrated another birthday the first week of November. He keeps a stash of books handy at his house that he will gladly sell, complete with his famous signature. Herman has been my baja dad for going on 20 years now. Like Oggie said, he likes the ladies and always looking for one who can wash windows. He can cut a rug like no one else, watch out for him on the dance floor come New Year's Eve.

On edit, tried to attach a photo from my phone. I'll have to bust out my computer.
