Boat Gears locked....

EnsenadaDr - 11-24-2012 at 01:17 PM

I will be so glad to get back to the US and Mexico...just got taken on a cruise of the Pittwater in the Sydney, Australia area on a yacht. The lady captain of the boat got the gears stuck and we plowed into a sailboat, the side of their boat flexed and a piece of steel from our boat impaled their boat. I can still hear the screams, thankfully no one was hurt. Went for a banana dessert, it was $14, (the US dollar is about 99 cents to an Australian dollar). Baja beats this place any day. The Australians brag about their harbor and how beautiful it is, frankly I prefer Ensenada Bay and the architecture of the houses are awful, Mexican architecture beats them by a mile, especially the $10 million dollar price tag of the water front homes that are nothing special.

Wow, being a little judgemental there, eh Doctor.

------and "woman" drivers are a problem over there, too???? even on the water?????

(just kidding you)

It's crazy, Barry, I mean, I took the Ferry from Manly to the City, Sydney the other day, and the comments from the Australians are constant, "Isn't this place beautiful?" "I am so lucky to be living here"...Sydney is a large city, reminds me of a mini New York, San Diego and Honolulu are so much prettier in my opinion. I met a lady from the state of Washington in the US, and she said the same thing, she wouldn't come back.

An Australian friend of mine who lives in BCS says much similar things about his home country and has no desire to live there again. He also told me that it's become an over priced, over taxed, police state.

It sounds to me like they're just trying to sustain their real estate bubble.

I know this isn't completely true, but I like it anyway:

Joe and I have a tacit agreement........we don't stir the others pot. It's a "been there....done that" kinda thing. :saint:

Come on, Dennis, you really think that posting about the ousting of radical Muslim groups in Australia won't hit a nerve with Joe? Especially when there are Hassidic Jews all over Sydney that MIGHT have something to do with the anti-Muslim sentiment?

I spent a week in Sydney recently and I found it to be a very nice city. The food is great, expensive yes, but that's to be expected in world class cities. The people couldn't be friendlier, the pubs are awesome. Sydney Harbor is beautiful, there is alot of historical preserved park land surrounding it. I've never seen so many sailboats as I did in Sidney Harbor on a ferry ride from Manly to Sydney. I found the architecture fitting for the environment. Bondi Beach has an yearly outdoor sculpture walk that is about a mile long and has hundreds of sculptures, it's one of the best art exhibits I've ever seen and I've seen alot of art exhibits.
Oh, And you can put your toilet paper in the toilet.

Hmmmmm, then she would not post on NOMADS, perhaps. I like her posts, so no "diary" for the doc is my vote.
