Yes....blade length. From what I hear, it shouldn't exceed a couple of inches........something like that.....who TF knows.brewer - 12-4-2012 at 03:40 PM
I would hide all pocket knives in the back of your vehicle, out of reach. If they wanted to, they could use them as an excuse to get money from you.Hook - 12-4-2012 at 04:23 PM
I would not show them...............until after Christmas. DENNIS - 12-4-2012 at 04:32 PM
I think any tourist can still buy switchblades and knife/ brass knuckle combos on first street in Ensenada. I guess they're ok.castaway$ - 12-4-2012 at 04:35 PM
i just have one I like to use for fishing etc... it's got a 5" blade. Its an expensive knife so maybe I better just leave it at home and buy one of
those switch blades and some brass knuckles Dennis was talking about that way I have my choice- cut the fish or beat themMarc - 12-4-2012 at 06:10 PM
I wear a knife on my belt when camping and have gone through checkpoints with one on and have never had a problem.mcfez - 12-4-2012 at 06:37 PM
Knife(s) in my tackle box, hatchet under the rear seat, pocket knife in the middle console.......never a issue.
knifes
captkw - 12-4-2012 at 06:47 PM
never had a problem and sometimes they try and buy some of my fillet knifes..(not small) and while on the road try to keep them in back..but I have
forgot and never was a issue !! K&Tmulegemichael - 12-4-2012 at 09:02 PM
i counted yesterday; 4 swiss army knives in various locations throughout the car and an expandable wand under my seat from my cop days...they've ALL
been looked at many many times over the years and never questioned...what's the fuss??Ateo - 12-5-2012 at 09:09 AM
Screw the knife man -- bring a gun!!! I like to carry my .45 just to see the reaction I get. I just tell them it's not loaded and I've never had an
issue. QUETZALCOATL - 12-5-2012 at 09:10 AM
Expandable wands are a no no they say, I prefer a cane sword or other hidden weapon. The 1 time I had the pleasure of staying in a baja jail a young
man was in there for having a 5 inch blade kitchen knife considered a deadly weapon. The best out for anything Ive found is make friends with the
local police chief and prosecutor and carry their cards on you and hand them over with your i.d. As for pocket knife- I carry a multy purpose tool on
my belt and never had issues( course Im ex army and can do wonders with a tooth pick like get carne asada outa my teeth). Hope this helps, have a
great day.DENNIS - 12-5-2012 at 09:26 AM
Well....we all know by now that it isn't the implement/weapon, it's the cop with whom you are dealing with at the time. If he's so inclined, he'll
insist on a fine if your nails are too long.
Even lawyers down here don't know the law, but we most certainly can hire one to expand his education. I wish someone would do that so we can at
last get a real answer to this recurring question, and while you're at it, ask him about crossbows as well.............pepper spray too.QUETZALCOATL - 12-5-2012 at 10:31 AM
D- I had a crossbow and it was no prob as for pepper spray my daughter carries it and had no problems. Now bear mace is the ticket tho triggered by
motion sensors on your property backed up by having constitina wire, barbed wire and broken glass on the walls. With a row of cactus and on the
interior bushes -punji sticks. Couple this with night vission glasses and a machete and big pit bulls-now were talking. As for the bars on your
windows just remember a hydraulic jack can get thru so be prepared. Sorry flash backs to living in Rosarito in the early 2000s.bajaguy - 12-5-2012 at 10:45 AM
An aluminum baseball bat (with a ball ) so I can hit the ball for my dog
However this works great, and you don't have to get dirty:
But never, never point it at anyone's eyes....it may cause temporary blindness and disorientation.....castaway$ - 12-5-2012 at 11:09 AM
I also have a 1 watt hand held laser to get me out of a scrape if I needed it, zap them in the eyes and get the heck outa there. Is the laser a
problem?bajaguy - 12-5-2012 at 11:23 AM

Yeah....it must be for welding. Ken Bondy - 12-5-2012 at 04:55 PM
My son had a small pocket knife confiscated at the checkpoint just south of Rosarito. Ironically we saw the same knife for sale at the covered flea
market in town.1bobo - 12-5-2012 at 05:15 PM
I lost a Swiss Army knife (Boy Scout model) at the checkpoint north of San Ignacio a couple of years ago. Was in the console and having had no
problems with the boys in khaki ever before, I got complacent. Now I make sure nothing tempting is in view.castaway$ - 12-5-2012 at 05:23 PM

...so we're driving through tecate southbound TODAY and i'm right in the middle of telling my honey about all the mordita crap going on here lately
and the blue lights go on behind us...sheesh!...i'm headed for the pemex up on the upper part of town so i keep on going till i'm parked at the pump
and the cop behind me is peeED...really peeED cause i didn't stop in the middle of a busy road...i get out and walk back to his car and he gets out
and starts the usual intimidation crap to get me shivering in my boots.."how long have you been coming to mexico?"..."do you know the traffic laws
here?"..."why are you so unsafe?"....etc, etc....AND...why didn't you stop when i put my lights on you.......well....i was ready for his b.s....i just
got really close to him and said it was all about safety....he said he stopped me because i stopped at a red light and didn't turn right on the red
and impeded traffic...sure...i cited safety.......ok...why didn't you stop when the lights came on?...too many people on the road; unsafe for
conditions....uh huh, yeah....THEN, i gave him the closer...i said i had been a law enforcement officer for 20 years and it was all about safety of
the citizens and he just crapped....all of a sudden, conversation over!....he THANKED me and wished me a felize navidad and i thought he was gonna buy
me a tank of gas, fer gawds sake......stand up to these guys and they'll back down just about everytime.......doesn't hurt to be a retired cop,
either....a very, very funny time at the crossing....will be in mulege by friday..DENNIS - 12-5-2012 at 05:38 PM
Makes me wanna go out and buy a Sheriff John uniform.

I have always carrie a 4lb. shop hammer under the front seat. It has many useful purposes. When I was trucking I used it to check my tires. It's been
looked at several times but never a issue.
We went through Tecate yesterday at 9:20 am and crossed at 10:30 am. not bad for pre holiday traffic.805gregg - 12-6-2012 at 05:40 PM
I drive with a machete next to my drivers seat, a necessary item in Baja, and no one has ever said a word about it.
