A Sad Adios to ArvadaGeorge, R.I.P.

David K - 12-4-2012 at 06:31 PM

I got this email this afternoon:
===================================================

David,

Would you please post this on Baja Nomad? I know George enjoyed the forum and read it often.

Longtime forum member ArvadaGeorge has passed away from cancer. He was a Baja loving dirtbike rider from Colorado and an all around good guy.

Thanks.

================================================

I met George at Nuevo Mazatlan a few years ago and he was a big fan of exploring the many miles of desert trails in the San Felipe to San Pedro Martir region. George rode up to say hi while I was at BajaRob's a couple years ago, too... He was kind enough to send me a video of his motorcycle ride all around the desert and beaches south of San Felipe. George shared Baja adventuring with many folks who came down to Baja to camp with him at Nuevo Mazatlan and other places.
Vaya Con Dios ArvadaGeorge... you and BajaLou keep having fun up there and plan some rides for the rest of us Nomads when we join you and our other amigos who have moved on to the great Baja adventure in the sky!

DEP George. Sorry to hear this.

Man....I dunno....is it this year or is it just me....it seems like a lot of folks around here have passed away recently.

Very nice man, I too met George at Nuevo Mazatlan about three years ago. Another big loss to this forum.

Rest in Peace my friend...

Boy, this has been a terrible year for us. Outright deaths and multiple friends diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Then, our dog died last week.

It's got me thinking about that Mayan calendar thang.:?:

George had a great eye for photography.

Last I heard, God was still accepting bikers in heaven.

This morning I read the entire 11 page report thread that motoged posted. What an experience! Thanks for posting that and in that small way, George lives on.

DEP tocayo

I met Arvada a couple of times in Baja, always when he was on one of his rides.

We were at Raquel's & Larry's upstairs at the bar/restuarant when his "lost" friend finally showed up on the ride referenced on an earleir post. That year it was so very, very green in the central Baja desert. They knew their ride was something special in a special place and they might not ever see or be in a place like that again. I remember Arvada George saying, "It was as green as Ireland!"

I hope Arvada George is up there riding again in a Baja as green as Ireland!

I remember George from Bajalou's Turkey Feast. May he rest in peace.

Condolences to his family.
