Hint 3: Historic water source .

David K - 12-12-2012 at 12:29 AM

Hint 4: On the CAMINO REAL... Father Serra drank from here on his walk to San Diego and Monterey from Loreto. The water was "sweet"!

motoged - 12-12-2012 at 01:16 AM

Mission Agua Dulce con angelita

David K - 12-12-2012 at 01:54 AM

Hi Ged,

Without the extras: 'Agua Dulce' is the correct answer (Sweet Water)...

Located just a couple miles off Hwy. 1 between San Agustin and Cataviña.

Photo I took in 2002 (the one above was taken in 2005):

Turn north from Hwy. 1 between
Km. 160-161 (29º51.67', -114º50.38'). Go 1.4 mi. to old Baja main road then turn left onto old road for 0.3 mi. then right on side road 0.3 more. Hike into gully.

GAME 3: WHERE AM I?

CORRECT!

Maybe best known for the jailhouse built by Dick Daggett Sr.

The graves are mostly Daggett family members...

Where, when?? Sounds like you have a great story to tell! Please post it in the General Baja Discussion forum for everyone to enjoy!

RenoJoe - 12-12-2012 at 11:58 AM

My wife and I spent the night in that jail in 1978 on our walk to Bay of L.A. after my radiator tank was ripped off by a large rock. We did that trip in a ford pinto from El Arco.

David K - 12-12-2012 at 12:17 PM

Yah, a Pinto was not the best vehicle to use on that road! I see a bigger story here (you have any photos?)! How far south did you break down?

BajaOkie - 12-12-2012 at 04:46 PM

Howdy David,

Much harder to tell from the picture but how about north of Loreto at the site of the visita San Juan Bautista Londo - or Londo.

KC

David K - 12-12-2012 at 04:47 PM

Okay Baja Guy, yes... selling guns goes way up when the people fear loosing their freedoms, as has never been so great in my life, the past 4 years. When you have had your income deprived by an ever growing government, then money that belongs to the people for growth and investment is gone from us.

Now, back to more fun things while we still have 9 days left (to 12-21-12): Where am I in the most recent photo (above)?

Hint: Yes, it is in Baja California.

BajaOkie - 12-12-2012 at 05:18 PM

Thanks David,

Have to back out also, on way to Cabo.

Hang in there and keep taking pictures!

KC

PS - Baja Guy, Did I miss something or is not this administation the same one we all have had for the last 4 years? I do not follow what your point is.

David K - 12-12-2012 at 05:20 PM

Have a great trip Kevin! If you go to any old sites, please share them with us... heck, if you go to any new ones too!:light:

wrong direction amigo, and wrong sierra... much closer to Agua Caliente (the one facing Valle Chico).

Barry A. - 12-13-2012 at 12:10 PM

Hmmmmmmmm, I can't think of another canyon that has a good supply of water that I have actually seen----must be one I have not gone way up in------there are several with water between Agua Caliente and Gonzaga, I understand.

I see a small blue palm, tho not really a "clue" since most have them.

I give up. (I could guess, but that is no fair)

Salt flats in Guerrero Negro area?

David K - 12-13-2012 at 05:07 PM

I am actually on a road that was once paved... an elevated causeway through the lagoon of Guerrero Negro (Black Warrior) to the abandoned salt loading dock. But, you were close enough Brooks!:light::yes:

Barry A. - 12-13-2012 at 05:12 PM

4 times I have tried with friends to access "Parral canyon" and that rancho, only to find that the fence and gate is locked like a safe at the big gate where the cross-over road from Barrendo hits Parral wash. Very depressing!!! We tried, but could NOT find any way around it-----big rocks in the way.

Barry

We were very lucky, as was Baja Lou's group from El Dorado as the gate was open!

There was a new fence beyond, at the end of the runway, cutting off the road by a corral, but by driving through the corral we got past that second (gate-less) fence... then came to the washed out road a short distance further.

We all camped at the corral and hiked to the old ranch house the next day. Baja Lou was so full of energy, he hiked way past the ranch house seeking the source of the stream in a grove of blue palms. Hiking back, we found a red diamond back and another found a big horn rack (photos in my web page)! Baja is amazing! Oh, there was a lot of hacked-up drip irrigation tube, indicating a 'cilantro' farm operation some time in the past (destroyed by the army)... as I had found in Agua Caliente Canyon, in 2000.

So much Baja... so little time!

TWO PART QUESTION

David K - 12-15-2012 at 10:07 AM

David K - 12-16-2012 at 10:23 AM

Funny!

Looks like you guys got stumped finally!?

BajaCat and El Vergel were both with me when that photo was taken, in 2011 following our epic search for the Lost Mission of Santa Isabel (as was XR Phil, dtbushpilot, TW, and the late great bajalou).

The answer (if not guessed) is coming soon...

BAJACAT - 12-16-2012 at 03:31 PM

OK last try, it's a Mexican merry go around and is located at Rancho Sonora, where we bought the onyx figurines...

Paulina - 12-16-2012 at 03:53 PM

It looks like something one would use to pop a tire off of the rim, or put it back on?

I dunno.

P>*)))>{

David K - 12-16-2012 at 06:38 PM

BajaCat, you were there when the photo was taken, but yes Rancho Sonora (near the El Marmol road junction east of San Agustin).

Paulina, yes... exactly!:light::bounce::bounce::bounce::cool::D
