Ran across a 1963 silver peso coin, about the size of a half-dollar. Is the monetary value of this coin 1/1000th of the current peso?

If it's a real peso and not a "silver" peso, it's not worth anything. All old pesos were recalled.
Save it for the panhandlers.

Don't give it to a panhandler like dennis suggests, in average good condition depending on date can be worth between $1.75 and $2.75 each, so that is
probably the melt down worth...
