I THOUGHT ALL I WANTED...

Udo - 12-16-2012 at 04:19 PM

Was a tequila bar and a beach house in BAJA.

Shari changed our minds.

All we want now is to live in Shari's DOLPHIN ROOM!!!

The kayak is at the water's edge, and with enough wind, we should make it to San Roque island in the morning...

What a dream!

Spoke with every Nomad that lives in BA...

Whatta great bunch of people!!

Bajaboy - 12-16-2012 at 04:27 PM

Make sure and hit up Conchita's for some tacos.

David K - 12-16-2012 at 06:36 PM

Isn't it nice... and great views! Here is above the Dolphin Room, last July:

Udo - 12-16-2012 at 07:08 PM

I gatta tell you...

the internet is PAINFULLY SLOW here in BA.

Lots of patience necessary...so I don't think my photo posting to photobucket is going to go too well (that is what I use to re-post to Nomads).

Therefore I'll wait until I get back to the US to post photos.

Hasta maņana!

The Nomads here are really a great bunch of people!

shari - 12-16-2012 at 07:21 PM

dont forget the end of the world party on Dec.21 here at La Bufadora Inn!

You obviously must have missed Conchita's for tacos and ice cream...but Tomas does serve up some great food

Ateo - 12-16-2012 at 09:06 PM

Sounds like I missed it Bajaboy. Next time. We we're on our way out of town and were looking for an ice cream place that Shari mentioned. I thought this was the place, but who knows, as I forgot the name of the place the second we left the Inn. I think I remember the lady here saying they got the ice cream from Ensenada or something.

bajagrouper - 12-17-2012 at 09:56 AM

I stayed in the Rock Cabin this last July for 4 days and i did not want to leave, Juan and Shari treated me like a long lost brother.. Rick

Udo - 12-17-2012 at 10:17 AM

I can't think of a better place for the world to end, than at Shari's Inn!

Great times... glad to hear you are enjoying your vacation Udo!

sancho - 12-17-2012 at 11:29 AM

Udo, Curious as to how it worked out showing your Cape trip
boarding pass to Tecate Immigration? With the assurance
from Cabo Airport Imm that a free fmm replacement would
be issued when you drove across?

Udo - 12-17-2012 at 04:20 PM

It did not work out, Sancho.

The INM people @ Tecate had some idea of what I meant to do, but (according to the computer less INM official), there was no way I was going to get another 180 day FMM with my boarding pass from 3 days earlier.
I had to pay for new FMMs.
Fortunately I did not have to argue with customs about bringing in the kayak and declaring it as a vessel.

NEXT TIME...and there will be a next time...

I will have "LOST" the temp INM FMMs when we get ready to board the plane again. INM will just have to issue us new ones to replace the lost ones...if we have to turn in something
(It's nice to have a wife who works for the airline and we get to fly for free and pay no check-in bag fees).

shari - 12-17-2012 at 04:28 PM

Udo had a hard day having fun....here he is an hour ago...I think Jana was doing all the peddling!

BajaBlanca - 12-17-2012 at 05:52 PM

Shari- that photo so captures the spirit of Bahia Asuncion !

M - 12-17-2012 at 06:28 PM

Udo,
It sure looks like you know how to have fun and handle things with good humor. Got a brother?
:tumble:
Hugs,
M

David K - 12-17-2012 at 06:32 PM

Sweet! It looks better in the water, than it does on top of their Toyota!

Udo - 12-18-2012 at 04:39 PM

Thanks for posting our photos, Shari & DK.

went by the ice cream place yesterday (easily visible from the main road).

Today i made breakfast for a few and afterwards we took the kayak out again.
The wind started out light (about 7 knots), and it took us about 3 hours to make to San Roque island.
The return trip was a doosey!
Made it back to the bay in less than 45 minutes and the wind was howling at about 22 knots.

WILD RIDE!!!

I would like to post my photos but it would take me four days to download what I need, to Photobucket. I'll wait until I get back and make a public bucket post, + facebook.
My Mac and Safari don't seem to like Shari's INFINITUM router

shari - 12-18-2012 at 08:05 PM

Udo made me & Iflyfish insane crepes with fresh berries for breakfast this morning....gotta love guests who cook for ME!!!!

My internet is fast...any ideas out there why Udo's Mac or Safari is so bloody slow for him?

I'm going to sleep now so I can wake up and get served another amazing breakfast tomorrow...yeah baby.

We are all in party planning mode for the end of the world fiesta on Friday...who's in?

shari - 12-19-2012 at 01:29 PM

and yet another gourmet desayuno...by Udo!
Here is the master at work...and Iflyfish with the fruits of Udo's labour!

Tandem Islands

SBSRF - 12-19-2012 at 04:19 PM

Udo, I gotta say I'm impressed!!!!

I have the same Hobie Tandem Island Kayak as you, I used to haul it around in the back of my Tundra with a bed extender until dragging it in and out (190 lbs) started tweaking my already operated on back..... I now have it on a trailer and hauled it down to San Felipe over ThanksGiving weekend and it was a pain to beach launch in the soft snowlike sand there.... Question is, how do you roof mount it, how do you muscle it off and on? I have the beach wheel setup also so hauling to the waters edge is no problemo. I have a 2012 FJ crusier and am looking at roofing it but the initial lift of the bow.....how do you handle it?

Steve

Udo - 12-19-2012 at 04:22 PM

That would make a great domain name, Rick!

BTW...
I closed all of my chached pages on my Mac and there is a marked improvement on speed.
After seeing, Shari's and Rick's WINDOWS machines fly by my Mac, I figgered I had some trouble-shooting to do. Had some time this afternoon, since it was too windy to take out the kayak.
Even Juan came in with only one yellowtail, but a whole bunch of bonitos. He took out some kayaker that were camping @ Shari's campground.
Glad to see that the wi-fi range extender is now working for you Rick.
For those not in the loop, Jana and I climbed up on his rented house roof (after making breakfast), and mounted the wi-fi box on his Directv mast).

shari - 12-19-2012 at 06:52 PM

excellent team effort getting the wifi signal from Gypsies 2nd floor modem to Iflyfish's digs at Laurieboats casa...mounting his nice receiver antenna on the roof...pretty stoked it worked and beams out to Bajafam's camper too!

Udo - 12-19-2012 at 07:29 PM

It was truly a team effort Shari!

Islandbuilder - 12-20-2012 at 01:13 AM

I have very fond memories of sitting in Shari's kitchen and eating wonderful food. Great memories, and your photos and words bring it all back. We'll be heading south soon, no itinerary yet, but La Bocana and Bahia Asuncion may be on the list.

Udo - 12-20-2012 at 08:18 AM

With the wind howling last night, and this morning very breezy and brisk, the kayak will have to stay on the beach again, and we'll take the FJ to La Bocana, Puerto Nuevo, and Malarrimo beach.
