Does anyone know the status and reliability of the Puertecitos pemex has been lately?

I have never found it open. No real need to ge gas there. You can get gas in Gonzaga or San Felipe. I guess if you are staying in Puertecitos it might be another issue.

No problem getting gas there 2 months ago during mid-day.
87 octane only; no Premium gas ever.

It appeared to be open for business 2 weeks ago. I would not bet the farm on it. A month earlier it looked deserted.

The person that owns the Pemex there is the same person that owns the Campo there she is not known for savy buisness practices.

I am going to do a moto trip from the Pacific side and am getting options on gas. I guess I'll put a gallon on my back.

Clara is the operator of the fuel station there.....as she is also the operator of Camp Puertecitos. The station was certified 18 months ago and is indeed in operation.......in an usually way :wow:

The station attendant is always in the rear of the building....if you see the chain drawn across the entrances. merely park and walk back there to find him. BTW: these folks still do siesta ....so they will never be opened in the afternoons.

If he is not there....walk over to the front gate of Camp Puertecitos and tell them you need gas. You may ask for Clara...she is a Southern Ca educated woman that speaks English very well.

The reliability of both Pemex stations in Puertecitos and Gonzaga can be a real PITA when riding motos down the coast. With the increased traffic from the paving project, I hope they will become more reliable in staying open and having product.

Unlike the Gonzaga station, the Pemex is over a mile off the highway route, down in town, on the original road south... paved to the town entrance from the fork on Hwy. 5. (in case you didn't see it zooming by on the highway, you wouldn't)

That's a good point David!
To add.......that split road into town.......go slow!......it's full of ruts and rocks.

Correct, gas there is generally not a problem for cars, but for motorcycles with limited range it's important.

There was gas yesterday (Sat). OH, keep going and eat at Bahia Cristinas...VERY good. About 5 more miles south Hector will take care of you! The food is as good as it comes,. Good camping place also Nancy
