Is there ethanol in northern Baja gasoline?

Anyone know if the Baja gas has ethanol? I understand that most of the fuel in northern Baja comes from the US but I am hoping that the "ethanol plague" is not being sent south.

With the forced introduction of E15 here in the SoCal it makes it worthwhile to search out a source for my moto. Since I do most of my riding in Baja I want to know about their PEMEX.

My research says no... I always get better mileage on Pemex Magna 87 than California regular 87. If I talk with Antonio, I will ask him if that is still true (Antonio is BajaCactus in El Rosario, Pemex and Motel).

I dont think its in baja gas...At least I havnt heard..But ,E 15 will kill motors...That NUTS !!! I'm seeing phase seperation with E5....K&T

So, they're trucking non-ethanol gas all the way up from some refinery in the mainland to the border area of Baja?

Or, are there US refineries still producing non-ethanol gas for export?

Hook,,I dont (myeslf) know the answer..maybe doug (Jefe) or Alm might chime in !! I would like to know about this..sorta a baja & mechanic thing !!!.....K&T

From what I have read they are adding the ehtanol and will be literally mixing it at the pumps when the E15 comes. It looks like the ethanol is actually added after the fact to "dilute" the gas.

If Baja gas comes from US refineries it's a big enough order for custom blends.

From what I have heard, Pemex sends it petroleum products to California (Long Beach) to be refined to gas and no ethanol is added. The refined product is used in Northern Mexico.

Yep; Mexico exports crude oil(via tanker boats, pipelines and trucks) to the PEMEX-Shell joint venture refinery at Deer Park Texas. After refining into unleaded gasoline (without ethanol) and diesel it is shiped back to mexico (not just Baja) and accounts for nearly 40% of Mexico's fuel supply.

why will it kill motors? car manufacturers are designing their engines to work with fuels marketed in USA.

and you claim to see ethanol separating from gasoline? i think this only occurs when you add water to gasoline and the water bonds with ethanol and it becomes immiscible. quit adding water to your gasoline, capt knucklehead!

Many major manufacturers including Toyota and BMW have stated that the use of E15 will void their warranties. A friend just bought a new Lexus (Toyota) and it was in his warrantee.

No motos are made to run E15 and most have trouble with the E10 we find most places in SoCal.

And yet another F__l !!

I dont usally reply to insults,,but I'll make an exception in your case....before you slander some one about said subject,, that makes a living on knowing about said subject..think before you react in such a childish manner...Do some research first !!! and may the new year bring you cold beer,warm sunsets and a fuel system that can take the punishment of E15.... you might look into what we call "phase separation" and the E fuels....thanks Robert,,great link & tecate ray I didnt know that about Socal fuel....Bummer.........K&T
