Sorry just getting to this now. My wife and I had just a wonderful trip down the Baja the middle of last month(December). We left our house in
Wisconsin and traveled 3180 miles to our home in CSL. Took 6 days, 4 days in Baja. Just a little overview.
Crossed Tecate, no issues, did not even get pulled over. Crossed about noon on a Sunday. Spent overnight and toured wineries in Guadaloupe. It was
awesome. Be sure and hit Cetto and if you are not coming back to US, load up the truck at those prices. The Savignon Blanc is some of the best we have
ever had. Stayed overnight in Theresa winery. Very nice but cold, no blankets. Great restaurant.
We shot down the cost to Guero Negro and stayed at Marnarno. Awesome food and service. Decent accomodations. Went thru the boulder field north of
Catavina. Another awesome part of the trip. Stopped at Mulege and they are unraveling from another hurricane(Paul). Business I understand is real slow
there.
Loreta was very nice scenery. Loved Bay of Concepcion. Want to spend a few days there in the future.
Rest of trip was pretty flat.
Anyway, all military stops were uneventful. We only had to get out of the vehicle once, with about 8 stops. Most stops were trucks going north.
The roads were very good, only one small stretch south of Guerro Negro a little rough and needing resurfacing. Not even a close call on cattle or
horses. The road stretch north of Santa Rosalia looks pretty new. Loop around LaPaz is real confusing. Poor signage.
Very safe, no issues at all. The small towns in the north are pretty beat up but typical Mexico.
Thanks to everyone for their help. Sorry for any misspellings. I am still a newbie and probably always will be. |
