I have some out of town friends planning to head down to Rosarito for a few days, and they plan on returning through TJ. I've been across many times
here, and just seem to know where to go. But being first timers, they were asking for more explicit directions (street names, mile markers, etc.) for
how to make it from the toll road to the border lanes.
I figured there must be a Nomad out there who has already put this together....David K?

I reluctantly had to make the crossing today, I just took 2nd street all the way to the loop, cant get any easier than that. zero turns from the last

Since Tijuana is famous for changing the route, street construction, etc., I can only say is follow the signs: 'San Diego', 'Garita' (border), 'I-5',
etc.

to all you ready laner's. I attempted to cross during that christmas mess, padre kino was closed and via rapido was so so backed up you couldnt get
in, I blew it off and played around tujuana instead.
yesterday I used the regular lanes but when I got close you could see the ready lanes were wide open and im guessing maybe a 10-15 minute wait! I

I too used to cross Tecate all the time, but have crossed at TJ the last 3-4 times. Our recent crossings at TJ have ranged from 45 minutes to 2 hours,
with no impromptu secondary stops. Tecate had become a hit or miss game with the misses stretching into 4 hour waits, and then we would get flagged
into secondary. Coming from LA Bay, this was turning out to be a very long day.
Considering we spend an additional hour more going traveling the Tecate route, it has made more sense lately to cross at TJ.doublelimits - 1-19-2013 at 04:19 PM
Randy, you might give Steve Clark a call, he was just down there a few weeks ago, he can tell you how we get through at TJ the quickest.

Just to clarify, what do you mean by "be sure to be under the san diego sign"?
If I remember , it can be a little confusing taking the correct exit off of 2nd street to get onto the loop. Are you saying there is an overhead sign
with "San Diego" on it, and that I should make sure I am in the lane that goes directly under that sign?

the sign that reads "san diego" with a down arrow needs to be a couple feet to the left of where it is, it does kind of point down to the k-rail
dividing the san diego and col.fed lane. you want to be left of the left k-rail. then you're good.
