Teachers and Fire Service

Curt63 - 1-17-2013 at 09:49 AM

I've noticed a pattern in my Baja travels. I run across lots of American Teachers and Fire Service.

I'm wondering how many of us Bajanomads fall in these categories.

Let us know if you are current, past or retired.

Me, I'm currently a High School Business/Computer Teacher in San Diego County. 13 years experience. I love my job!

Bajaboy - 1-17-2013 at 10:11 AM

I teach math and my wife is a special ed teacher. I love my job as well.

durrelllrobert - 1-17-2013 at 10:21 AM

Don't know if they are Baja Nomads but a lot of Orange County firemen have homes here in Punta Banda.

I have taught high school agriculture for 34 years. I don't love it as much as I once did.

BajaBlanca - 1-17-2013 at 12:20 PM

current teacher of English as a Second Language at the local middle school (7th, 8th and 9th graders)in La Bocana and I agree... there are so many firemen and teachers loving Baja. We noticed that quite a few of our B&B guests were retired teachers/professors.

I also sometimes teach lower level French. Mais oui !

And in about 3 weeks I start basic conversational Spanish for those who want to pass the Citizenship test.

But really, we are both retired.

:lol::lol:

Teachers and Firefighters in Baja? Never!!!

Yeah Curt63, you guys and gals are everywhere in Baja because you get long periods off!!! Good on you and you DESERVE it.

My teacher buddy goes to Baja for 1.5 months straight every summer.

grace59 - 1-17-2013 at 09:36 PM

I've been teaching at an elementary school here in Washington for 21 years as both a first and second grade teacher. Before that as a Kindergarten and pre-school teacher in Northern California. I love the joy of learning that young children have...everything is new to them! I guess teachers love to travel and continue to learn (then teach about) new things.

We have both had more than one career, but teaching in traditional schools and in not so traditional schools has been a part of our lives --- in the US and in Central America.

So, another check for the teachers.

Retirement is awesome if you show it the same dedication and commitment you gave to your career!

Bajaahh - 1-22-2013 at 07:53 PM

You're really never retired as a FF/PM. Most are always willing to help out in any situation....
