Some of my compadres are heading down in early March, plan to cross Southbound at Tecate.
I know that the border gates lock at 11, and assume they open again around 7 a.m.
Can you give me current exact hours of opening
and also if the visa/banco facilities, southbound into Baja, are also open during those hours, since they are headed to San Ignacio and will need
visas

Tecate crossing hours are...Open 5 am close 11 pm.
I believe migration is open when the border is open. They are on the right side, right after crossing. There is usually someone on the street
telling you where to park. We go around the block and park on the side, pointing south.

When Max and I went south last September (to meet the governor with our new book), I asked the officers at the Tecate border, and posted on Nomad what
I was told that day (9-19-12), from my Cell Phone:
8am to 6pm to pay for fmm. 6am to 11pm for free fmm (7 day)". Per customs officer today.
In the next post, from home, I added the following:
SOUTHBOUND: Max was driving and as soon as we were inside Mexico, we pulled up to some officials standing by the secondary inspection, which is in
front of the INM office. I rolled down my window and spoke to the man with the customs uniform on and asked him what hours is the office open to get a
tourist card. He said from 6 am to 11 pm. I then asked about being able to pay here at the INM office, and he said yes, but only between 8 am and 6
pm. I then confirmed that and said "here, not at a bank?"... "Yes, here".
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Now, since that day, another Nomad posted a different set of hours!
I included this with my Sept. post:
My personal WARNING about this data: Even though this was said to me tonight at Tecate, by the customs officer, never be shocked if different rules
are in force when YOU get to the border.
