I was told that the race course was announced on the weekly SCORE web show a couple of days ago.
Arches to Zoo Rd north crossing hwy 3 east of Borrego, north to the Saldana area (south end of Laguna Salada) then south to Borrego to Morelia Jct.
From there south to one or two of the washes north of Matomi but no running Matomi. I guess getting the rocks moved in Matomi was harder than
expected.David K - 1-30-2013 at 06:08 PM

I'm sure that course will have plenty of coarse sand and gravel.David K - 1-31-2013 at 08:55 AM
I'll be happy when the course is coarse! Thanks guys!TMW - 1-31-2013 at 01:06 PM
Back in the 90s this was the usual race course except they ran up the coast starting north of El Dorado Ranch then cross hwy 5 at El Chinero and take
what is now used by CODE to what was called the Oasis then turn west and south on the Baja 1000 course back to Borrego.

The course is 254 miles long, and there looks to be a new area going around Borrego Mountain, instead of down Borrego Wash?

Here is a Google Earth version with only using every 10 race miles. Also note the Sportman Bikes will run 200 miles. They cross over from Ck 1 to CK 2
on the top end and from CK 3 to CK 4 on the bottom end.
Also note the new section coming around C. el Arrajal.

Here is the BFG map. A little easier to look at.

The carved animals along Mex. 5? Wasn't by the Campo Pai Pai road, too?
That was before Google Earth images, I think?
I ran a Los Campeones pit along the race course for the Score Baja Internacional ('500') one year... '78 I think... between Hwy. 5 crossing and the
coast, near Pete's Campo El Paraiso.willardguy - 2-22-2013 at 08:29 PM
no, a real zoo with coyotes, bobcats, jackrabbits, desert dwellers. some old codger ran it. hence the name "zoo road".
anyone?Ateo - 2-22-2013 at 08:34 PM

The area you are talking about is a nice arroyo. When we marked it last week, before 120 looked like it was taking the Borrego route but at 120 we
made a hard right. I told Paul our dune buggy group goes up there. Usually we enter through the gate at what looks to be 172 or 174 where the course
crosses the highway.
We go in there, make a right about 5 miles in to an abandoned Slate Mining Area and then back out and basically follow that wash (130-120) but head
straight east and come out near the cell tower just north of the Military Checkpoint. It is an easy run.
We have tried a few times to find a way WEST to Arroyo Grande from that section but everything we try ends up being a dead end. If you get ever
through, send an email please.
