Drive time to San Francisquito from Bahia de los Angeles?

Pops - 11-3-2004 at 03:17 PM

We will have a rather large/heavy box van for pitting the Baja 1000.

That depends on how fast you are able to drive. The road is a good (by Baja standards) graded dirt road with a couple of big hills to cross... About 70 miles from L.A. Bay to the San Francisquito/ El Arco road. Probably allow 3 hours?

Pops if something that's available like in the picture I'd say dump the box van and take the Trophy Truck. You'd be there in about 40 minutes.

we did it in around 2 hours (includeing stops ) back in march but we were moveing. we will be down there allso and may do a road trip to animas on quads.

I have done it twice...

...in the last several years in about 2.5 hours in a Hummer H-1. It's hard to do that trip fast because the scenery is so beautiful. I'm sure I could have made it in about 2 hours with blinders. I heard that there were some problems with the road near the San Francisquito runways caused by the recent storms. Maybe someone who has been there recently can comment.

Read again what he is driving... I basically doubled the time I would take in my Tacoma (1.5 hrs., not including a visit and cold Pacifico with Pancho at San Rafael).

You're right David...

Ken Bondy - 11-5-2004 at 09:18 AM

...should have noticed that. 3-4 hrs sounds right under those circumstances.
