Skeet emailed this to me to share on Nomad... as it isn't a You Tube video, I didn't know how to open the video link on the page, so just click the
link to see beautiful West Texas:
A Little Bit of West Texas
Wyman Meinzer is the photographer. He once lived in the old jail in Benjamin, TX . The photo of the coiled rattlesnake appeared on the cover of a
wildlife magazine in the 80s. He said there were times he crawled a long way on his belly to get a good shot of a wild animal. And the music is
perfect. It was a pleasure to see so many living deer with such amazing antlers. These old fellows have been around a long time to grow horns like
that.
The music is by Doug Smith. Doug is from Petersburg, Texas. Doug plays by ear - He cannot read music, but has many CDs you may want to buy. A pickup
accident left Doug paralyzed, but fortunately he has learned to play again. Most of the pictures were taken in West Texas in the rolling plains
(Caprock to Seymour ), the Fork, 6666, and Waggoner Ranches. There are some scenes in Palo Duro Canyon .
Take a few moments and view and listen. I doubt if you'll ever see such fantastic use of music set to amazing animal and landscape photography. The
changes in the tempo perfectly compliment the scenery. It is quite simply a beautiful portrayal of the state of Texas.

That was great. It's interesting how Texans refer to various areas of the state. When I lived in Lubbock the media referred to Dallas/Ft Worth area as
North Texas even tho it's south of Amarillo and Lubbock. Amarillo was the Panhandle. Lubbock was the South Plains but north of El Paso, Dallas/Ft
Worth, San Antonio, Waco and Houston. I don't remember what El Paso was called. I think Waco, Houston and San Antonio were referred to as East Texas.

Beautiful photography, I grew up in that part of the world it can be as dangerous as it is beautiful. Since I left I have traveled many places. The
weather can change in a heart beat. from one extreme to another back there.
But it's very like Baja it has a certain Allure that Unexplainable.
Just Maybe That's why I Love Baja so Much.

During the cold war Amarillo was the most heavily targeted city in the US by the Soviet ICBMs because of the Pantex plant.
The Pantex plant is America's only nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly facility and is charged with maintaining the safety, security and
reliability of the nation’s nuclear weapons stockpile. The facility is located on a 16,000 acre (65 km2) site 17 miles (27 km) northeast of Amarillo,
in Carson County, Texas in the Panhandle of Texas. The plant is managed and operated for the United States Department of Energy by BWXT Pantex and
Sandia National Laboratories. BWXT Pantex is a limited liability enterprise of Babc-ck & Wilcox Technical Services Group, Honeywell and Bechtel.
