Wines from Peru?

Had a bottle of this last night while dining at the local Peruvian restaurant. Pretty good, never heard of this varietal.

So, what was the tannin level like? That varietal is supposed to be rather high in tannins. Was the pct. of tannat pretty high?

Hook,
very little tannins - from the wiki that BG posted the tannins are not expressed in the S.A. plantings. Apparently, it is Uruguay's national grape and they have been making this varietal for years. Who knew?
Valle del Ica is at 1400 feet and is arid, almost desert. Intipalka started from new plantings in the late 1990s. That's everything I know.

Funny about Tannat; I've since found a number of local NorCal winneries who grow a few rows to use as blend. Most after discovering it on trips to south america.
Veddy veddy interesting.....
