My favorite spot to visit is the Valle de los Gigantes south of town. It's an easy day trip and you can hike around and check out the giant cacti...

Start with two margaritas at the Miramar and then see if you need to do anything else.

A few miles past the 'gigantes' is the 2 mile side road to Rancho Percebu (about Km. 20)... go at low tide and walk across to Shell Island and enjoy yourselves!

Lunch at Bahia Cristina on the way to Gonzaga Bay near Puertocitos. It has to be on a weekend as that is when they are open........great food and view and very nice people. Hector and his wife are nice people and good cooks.

This 2007 AAA map shows the Valle de los Gigantes, Laguna Percebu, and 5 miles past Puertecitos is Bahia Cristina. Gonzaga Bay is at the bottom and Alfonsina's is the popular restaurant to eat, right on the sand. Other restaurants are at Papa Fernandez' and the Rancho Grande market on the main road. You can color in the dirt road south of Puertecitos as it is now paved to the Campo El Faro road, just north of Papa Fernandez' on Gonzaga Bay. It took 6 years, but they added 40 miles of paved highway since this map.

certainly no shortage of fine eateries in san felipe, a shout out for this newer spot south of town. great folks and delicious food :yes:

I always take a bicycle, mtn bike type, explore SF,
ride to the Harbor so. of town 3 mi., might try
La Vaquita Restaurant, 1 blk no. of the no. end of
the Malecon, there is a bar that changed names
recently 6 mi. no. of town on the Hwy, was
named the Jolly Mon, I beleive it is called the
Biting Crab, as DK posted, Percebu for sand dollars,
check tides for the lowest

If you go to La Vaquita get the Vaquita Roll.............so good!

El Pescador Beach

A few miles north of town......go to the El Pescador entrance...pay $5.00
The road I inked out will lead you to thy most beautiful beach in San Felipe. There is also a cove at the far right....another fine area without the crowds. Good hiking in the mountain range.....and the road that heads staright to the beach...one must go pass a "mini grand canyon". Very cool to hike in too. At the beach...there is fresh water.



Someone here said Valley of the Giants....which is about 3-4 miles south of town......about $5.00 to get in....but let me warn you of this: do not go further than the first giant cactus if you do NOT have four wheel drive. It's worth to go to.

Ask around with the locals if the Medio Noche Rodeo will be open on Saturday night...it is located very near the end of town. Get a true evening with the locals by going there :-)

You must stop at Cowpatty if heading out as far as Puertocitos. They always have Tecatti (I have no idea how to spell it, but it tastes pretty good). The Gigantic Cactus viewing was 10 dollars a car, yes, 5 dollars each. I'm all for enjoying a low-key day - for us, a celebration of the first calm day for awhile.

I just realized it was my wife that started this thread!!! Funny you mention Miramar. Last time we were there my wife did half drunk Karaoke. She was the only woman in the bar.........it was fun.
