Planning a trip into Baja first part of March, returning to US first part of April.
I've read on here that maybe going with Discover Baja for insurance is the best way to go on MX vehicle coverage. Is that the consensus?
Coverage for a month? Probably an annual policy is going to work out the same or better than going with daily coverage? What should I be planning to
spend for my coverage?
Use Discover Baja for FMM's also?
Lastly, are there days to avoid traveling due to flow of spring breakers?
Thanks,

For insurance I use Bajabound. Their website ie www.bajabound.com is easy to use. You will get several quotes and you choose what is best for you. I have had a claim and found it easy to file
etc. The cost will depend on type and year of vehicle etc. I recently purchased a 1 year policy on a 2004 Grand Vitara and the 1 year premium was
$382. It was about $50 cheaper for a 6 month policy and as I recall MORE for a 1 month policy. I have also insured a 2007 31 foot motorhome and the
premium was about $850 for a year. Personally I would stay away from the beaches the week before and the week of Easter. It might just be me but the
beaches south of Mulege went from a couple dozen people to thousands. Some campers enjoy the crowded conditions etc but it is just a little much for
this old timer. Travel safe and have a fun trip.absinvestor - 2-15-2013 at 06:43 PM
Forgot to comment on the FMM. For me I like to cross at Tecate. Get your FMM right after crossing the border. You can pay within a few yards of where
you get the paperwork and you're on your way.Leo - 2-15-2013 at 08:36 PM
Yes, don't travel over Easter, that is basically also for the week prior to. Take a 6 month insurane, unless yu plan to come back within a year. Do
get that FMM paper, only about 24 US per pereson and good for 6 months.nbacc - 2-16-2013 at 08:57 AM
For heaven sakes do NOT try to come back on a Sunday afternoon... any Sunday afternoon unless you have a good long book, a driver and no frustration

Easter travel ......NO!
I made that mistake once upon a time. It was a calamitous event on the highway. 8 mile long standing still traffic with many overheated
radiators.......cars going off the two lane to bypass the traffic, only to get stuck in the sand....it was like being in an "End of the World" epic
movie!
However.........it is still fun to be in Baja on the holidays. Just stay out of town during the late nights when the clubs get going at full speed :-)Trueheart - 2-16-2013 at 10:27 AM
Thank you Nomads for input. Info appreciated. You're the best!

With you on that, never could figure why anyone would
pay the club fee, maybe $45 plus instead of the border
fmm $24 the pre paid fmm from the club is approx $36 or so?
Both Bajabound and Discover use basically the same Mex Ins Co's
