Dish Network

I have dish network in La Paz and get a fine signal, and last year purchased network stations from NY and SF, Dish recently changed the station numbers from the 240's to 910's. So far no problem but today the stations disappeared from my feed. I'm paying a small monthly charge for the extra stations and wonder if the satellite feed has changed and the stations are now gone for good? Any ideas?

I have Dish Network and just checked - we get all the San Diego area local channels on Dish channels 0-100.

The real time programming guide at dishnetwork.com says they are there. Are you sure they didn't some how drop the NY package off your account?

this happens once and a while with dish...

you need to go online and "chat" with support

they will "ping" your box and all will be ok

it has nothing to do with "spot beaming"

Yeah, what he said. They don't normally make a CONUS to spotbeam switch without a good amount of advance warning.

Unplugging the receiver for 10 seconds to cause a reset and reboot may also solve the problem.

Hola Ron!

I don't know if you know this, but the US dish network and directv will only beam down a good signal to about Loreto (which is about the same latitude as Key West Florida) and a little farther south.
But any further than that one needs a 3 meter dish to receive a signal. I am unsure about receiving an HD signal on either network that far south.

As often happens, some misinformation. I am south of Los Barriles and have HD DISH tv. Before this season I had a 2 meter dish and received sat 119 just fine. This year I wanted HD and brought down my HD receiver (The Hopper & Joey) and was able to receive sat 129 with a 4 ft dish that I bought down here. I also brought down a DP33 switch and a "solo node" both bought online.

I have a phony address in New York and receive the east coast networks. I have a WA state address and can, AT MY CHOOSING, switch to the Seattle networks with a phone call or "live chat". My billing address is now in WA but for years was in Nevada. I have been told by DISH that I can not have service at different locations at the same time. DISH does not know that I am in Baja, I am either in NY or WA as far as they know.

And then there is my FTA receiver, another issue altogether.

There is the issue- Dish does not know I'm in La paz. I still get everything else on my lineup, except the NY and SF stations, and I wonder if I call them they can then see I'm not at my MI billing address. I tried the unplug reset- nothing changed. Those who say no Dish south of Loreto are incorrect as I've now had it for 3 years, with HBO, HD etc.

3 years ago Dish found out somehow that I was actually in Baja and fried both of my receivers. I went back to the states and bought 2 more which also got zapped within a month. Now I have had DirecTv for 3 years without a problem. My "Home" address is in San Diego but i also get NY and LA channels.

that can't happen...you probably had a voltage problem

low voltage fries electrical equipment like that...

You need to call Distant Networks, they have stopped your service. Distant Network channels are up and working just fine. You may have had a credit card expire and did not send them the updated exp date, they do not call, just shut down your service if they encounter a billing problem.

I too have the Dish Network package here in La Paz. On this trip down it didn't work. I assume it was because I missed a payment on my bill and they disconnected me and now they have stopped charging me altogether. I didn't bother remedying the situation because I now have Slingbox. This allows me to control my Direct TV DVR back in CA and receive the signal over the internet anywhere in the world. Here in La Paz I would simply connect my TV to my laptop with an HDMI cable and voila, I have full access to my DVR in the states almost as if I was right at home. I recently brought down a WD TV Live box (less than $100) that replaces the laptop and connects my TV directly to the internet.

i love it! now, if i could just find a way to retire in La Paz i'd be SET UP!!!!

In Sept or Oct of last year, I received an email from Dish stating they were no longer going to broadcast the RV Channels, local SF and NY. A few years ago, this was do to some congress action. This time I believe it is a bandwidth deal as they are going to dabble into the phone market somehow and need the bandwidth for that.

At any rate, I went back to Distant Networks, started up a subscription and pay them separately and get the SF and NY network channels on 900's I get 4 east and 4 west channels.

This might have something to do with your situation, or Distant Network has been sold again, and like last time, I sent the money to the old company. The new company dropped my like a hot rock. However, since I am receiving them, it might be your card on file expired or the charge was declined.

All is well-- Distant network put in the wrong expiration on my card and it rejected it. Called and restarted the system and the channels are back. Norm
